Markus Lerch is DJ, Producer and Label Director of Deeptown Music – and one thing is certain: he's a real music maniac! He was always fascinated and interested in music, but only started DJ-ing back in 2003 by founding the DJ- and production outfit “The Soulpreachers” together with his cousin Michael Lauper. Since early 2007, Markus Lerch is DJ-ing and producing as a solo artist, whilst his former partner resigned from the music business.
Like many artists, Markus Lerch found his inspiration in London 's club- and house scene. Whilst studying International Business Management and staying in London , he used to work for an underground DJ- and event agency (2005). Moreover, he also worked for the world-famous label Defected Records (2006). All this along with the extensive network he built up, proved to be a very valuable experience for his future.
AS A LABEL DIRECTOR,Markus Lerch is head honcho and founding partner of Deeptown Music! Together with his partners, he founded the Switzerland based label early in 2007. Since then, he is working very hard to continuously raise the label’s profile and provide high quality soulful and deep House music. Already with the first release, Deeptown Music created a dance floor classic: DJ Le Roi feat. Roland Clark’s “I Get Deep” made it No 26 of Traxsource.com’s Top of 2007 sales charts! But also the following 3 releases reached chart positions.
In 2008, Deeptown Music continued to release quality and successful projects. There was Markus Lerch’s very own project with Shovell’s, “Tudo Valé”, a new project by Le Roi and Roland Clark as well as a deep house bomb by newcomer Ray Jones! Deeptown Music also signed a collaboration deal with a London based promo- and marketing agency. So Deeptown Music’s all set to continuously progress and put itself on the map Deeptown Music also continues to run official label nights throughout their home country Switzerland featuring artists, partners and guests such as Copyright, DJ Spen, Liquid People and many others.
AS A DJ, Markus Lerch is part of the London based “Sedition DJs” – collective! He played most of the leading clubs in London such as Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, The Cross or Plan B in Brixton. But also in his home country Switzerland, he played all leading clubs incl. Club Q, Kaufleuten, Supermarket, Atlantis, Bar Rouge, Pravda, Du Théâtre – to name just a few.
He had a residency for Defected In the House and Purple Music events and is still playing for the Ministry of Sounds’ boutique brand “Housexy” on a regular basis! With official “Deeptown Music Label Nights” or “Jackers together under one House”, he’s also very successfully putting on this own nights!
AS A PRODUCER, Markus Lerch’s latest release was his solo project (DTM006) “Tudo Valé” in May 2008 on his own label Deeptown Music! For this project, he teamed up with “Shovell”, who is as a percussionist & co-writer/producer best known as part of the internationally renowed and multi-platinum selling group "M-People". Markus Lerch also secured remix services of Timmy Vegas, who’s one half of “Soul Central” and producer of the dance anthem “Strings of Life” on Defected Records. There are currently 3 tracks/projects in the pipeline which should be finished by the end of 2008.
Together with his former partner, he already successfully produced other tracks! “Spirit” and “Are U Ready” were both released on the Spanish label Silocasa Reocrds, at this time run by Pacha Ibiza resident Matt Caseli! It was collaboration with singer “Sybille” who was working for Purple Music, Peppermint Jam or Swing City as well. Both tracks sold very well and were licensed for several international compilations. Markus Lerch only started producing back in 2005!
