Déjà considéré comme un beat master dans la toute droite lignée de son confrère de L.A. Flying Lotus, Mono/Poly révolutionne le son hip hop, aux antipodes du hip hop west coast "traditionnel" à bases de grosses rythmiques imprévisibles, des sonorités riches et saturées desquelles émane un groove chaleureux et aérien.
