SOULWATT
is described by fans as "the most talented and versatile local/regional
band around." This high energy trio combines their truly stunning
musical prowess with impeccable vocals to present the most wide-ranging playlist one could only dream of until now!. Without missing a beat, SOULWATT flows from modern/classic rock-- to authentic blues, to supremely danceable funk, and many genres in between. Members Dougand Randy each sing lead; but can also blend their voices into "an auditory eargasm" of 2-part harmonies unlike you will hear in any
other “local or regional” band.
DOUG MCCOWAN
(Drums &
Lead Vocals), a music industry veteran, has not only
toured
Europe extensively, but resided there as well. Doug, originally from
Chicago,
Illinois-- has lived in Los Angeles, California-- and toured the U.S.
at
one point in his music career. A graduate of Musicians Institute,
Doug's
crowning acheivement was being awarded the with “Most Outstanding
Student”
from the percussion program. His undeniable drum kit skills are rivaled
only by his unmistakable soulful and seasoned lead vocal style. SOULWATT
launched the opportunity for Doug to excel on vocals by
musical
icons such as: Sting, Chris Cornell, John Fogerty, Robert Plant and
many
other icons most bands can’t touch!
RANDY COURTNEY (Guitar, Loops, Synth & Vocals) hails
from Lenoir, NC--has been a guitar freak since age 13. He immersed
himself
in music by learning many styles including rock, blues, funk, Motown
soul,
classical and jazz. Randy’s devotion to his music accompanied with his
strong
work ethic, have enabled him to blend all his many influences, styles,
and
genres to create a sound that is entirely his own. In addition to his
prowess
on the guitar, Randy is also an accomplished singer/songwriter. Randy’s
totally
unique use of guitar synth and live loops allow SOULWATT to
sound
more like a 6 piece band!
BRANDON MILLER (Bass), the newest addition to SOULWATT,
was born and raised in the mountains of western North Carolina. Brandon
began
playing bass at the tender age of eleven and then consumed himself with
the
study of music. Soon after, he was playing professionally. Now an
accomplished
bass player/musician with nearly 30 shows under his belt, musical
theater
has been a large part of his career. At the turn of the millenium, when
he
was 18 and just beginning his musical career, he pulled a stint
for
Celebrity Cruise Lines. Upon returning home, he was then introduced
into
the Blues/Jam/Rock scene through a Boone based unit named Papa Gumbo.
Presently--
and after several years of rock n roll decadence, Brandon is currently
pursuing
a degree in engineering. Not only is Brandon one-third of SOULWATT
and an excellent bass player, but he can also be found playing the
tuba,
sousaphone, and guitar in various other groups across the region
ranging
from jazz to bluegrass, to a little of everything in between. From
acoustic,
to electric covers and originals........ SOUL
