   Sound Awake's Blurbs
About me:
SOUND AWAKE can be heard every Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 3 PM Central on KPFT 90.1 FM, Houston's commercial-free/listener-sponsored Pacifica Radio station. JEFFREY THAMES [King of Grief], your humble host since Thanksgiving morning 1996, promises the best mix of Intelligent Freeform Pop on the dial, from the deepest oldies to the choicest indie. Every week at 2, the CLASSIC CLUB HOUR features your alternative dance favorites from the 80s and surrounding eras. You can listen online (and get more information about KPFT and Pacifica) at kpft.org. Independent and unsigned acts are encouraged to send material for airplay consideration. For more info, or to submit a demo, send Jeffrey a message via MySpace or email him at kingofgrief via Yahoo! Mail. Facebook users are invited to join the Sound Awake group here. ------------------------------------
Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone with vast genre- and/or era-hopping tastes in music. Anyone who misses keeping their radio tuned in to one station (and paying rapt attention) for hours at a time. Anyone who still gets excited by the sight of a pile of 45s or 12" singles at a thrift store. Anyone who dances to "It's My Life" at Numbers and pops in Spirit of Eden when they get home. Anyone who doesn't rank Sgt. Pepper among their three most favorite Beatles albums. Anyone who wants to see the entire Cowsills catalog remastered and reissued in their lifetime. Anyone who admires Bono the vocalist and lyricist and loathes Bono the photo-op philanthropist. Anyone who owns The Monkees' Changes and actually listens to it at least once a year. Anyone who fits these descriptions and makes like-minded music of their own, especially fellow Houstonians. Failing that, anyone with Tuesday afternoons free.

Kudos for your show. Long time fan and occasional caller. Wish you had a player here with a range of favorites. Not too many of us out there with such varied and eclectic tastes. Check out my place for for a multi-genre sound experience, too. Best wishes, Midnight Habit.

thank god someone has finally appreciated adorable. i mean, i know they weren't the best band ever, but jesus, they do have some marvelous tracks.

and then there's that silly name of theirs...oh, it's much more fun to like them rather than dislike them. what's the fun in that? but everyone does it anyway, poor sods.
