Selecta Balance and Selecta Seeca met through common friends and soon realized they were infected by the same incurable reggae virus.
After sharing some dances and events, they had a good look at their respective record collections and made them one. The influence of Jamaican, but local and UK sounds as well, resulted in the sharing of a common taste for music and an identical idea of a Sound.
After turning the tables at many private and small dances, they decided to organize their own dances in the Cologne MTC CLUB.
Many further dances were to follow and they quickly built up extensive relationships with other Sounds and DJs. Since 2007 MC Magic completes the crew with his work on the mic.
The Sound activity was not only limited to Cologne and the Cologne area, but extended to dancehalls and clubs in other towns with the aim of raising the quality level more and more and to present the Massive with nights full of Big Tunes.
Consequently, Germany’s dominating internet reggae radio (Raggakings.net) offered the Crew a weekly show. Ever since then, the Sound Essence Crew has been on air there every second Tuesday from 18.00 to 20.00 hrs.
Picturing the Crew’s style, a balanced choice of Foundation, Roots, Bashment and Rub a Dub tunes is presented.
Selecta Balance und Selecta Seeca lernten sich über einen gemeinsamen Freundeskreis kennen und schnell wurde klar, dass sie vom gleichen unheilbaren Reggaevirus befallen sind.
Einige Dances und Events wurden gemeinsam besucht und darauffolgend die bereits bestehenden Plattensammlungen begutachtet und zusammen aufgelegt.
Beeinflusst durch jamaikanische aber auch lokale und UK Sounds teilte man den gleichen Musikgeschmack und die Vorstellung eines Sounds.
Zusammen wurde anfangs auf vielen privaten und kleinen Dances aufgelegt bis man sich überlegt eigene Dances im Kölner MTC CLUB zu organisieren.
Viele weitere Dances folgten und man baute schnell weitreichende Verbindungen zu anderen Sounds und DJs auf. Seit 2007 ergänzt MC Magic die Crew am Mic
Die Sound Aktivität beschränkte sich schnell nicht mehr nur auf Köln und das Kölner Umland, sondern auch Dancehalls und Clubs in anderen Städten wurden von der Crew beschallt, mit dem Ziel das Level immer etwas weiter anzuheben und der Massive einen Abend voller Big Tunes zu bieten.
So kam es auch, dass Deutschlands dominierendes Internet Reggae-Radio (Raggakings.net) der Crew eine wöchentliche Show anbot.
Seitdem ist die SoundEssence Crew jeden zweiten Dienstag von 18:00 bis 20:00 eben dort zu hören.
Präsentiert werden stellvertretend für den Stil der Crew eine ausgewogene Auswahl an Foundation, Roots, Bashment und Rub a Dub Tunes.
