Guitarist Robbie Long is a multi-instrumentalist who has covered miles of styles in his weird & wonderful career. He has been a ‘working man’s musician’ since leaving school, walking the boards with countless acts on stages and in studios over the past twenty years in Australia, New Zealand and Europe and Ireland. Although Rob has jazz/rock foundations, he has gathered tools from a spectrum of musical genres through his musical journeys, adding spice and depth to his playing.
As well as playing solo, Rob tours regularly with his bluegrass/newgrass band ‘The Lawnmowers’, and with singer-songwriter Kate Fagan. He has also worked with festival acts such as Totally Gourdgeous, Gilly Darby, Waiting for Guinness and Glenys Rae Virus. Locally in Newcastle he occasionally works with Dave Andrews (Ultra Swing Lounge), Anthony Snape, Maureen O’Brien, and Limerick.
Rob has performed at many of Australia’s major festivals, including Woodford, The National Folk Festival, Port Fairy, Illawarra Folk Fest, and Tamworth. His band The Lawnmowers was featured on The Daily Planet on Radio National 2007. A respected Australian guitarist, he has also performed onstage with a host of legendary Aussie guitar pickers, including Rod MCormack, Phil Emmanuel, Micheal Fix, Bruce Mathiske and Lloyd Spiegel.

Hey how's it going Rob? Still can't thank you enough for your brilliant work on our album.Everyone comments on how good the production is.We are now selling well overseas and we have been getting heaps of work out of it Australia Wide. Oh did i mention we sold out within 4 MONTHS!! Song writing is well underway for second album.See you soon,Mark
It was our pleasure to come to the show and support your talent. After nearly 20 years of playing I still can't believe how just one guitar can be such a powerful instrument of expression... in the right hands that is! And you blew us away. I reckon would've quietened a few Sydney-siders too.
Also loved your slide work.
And as for a pick, yeah (I say shaking). I'll impress all of my four licks onto the gathering, should be quite underwhelming in the company present. Seriously though, that would be a great thing to do. Wear fire retardant clothes though and hope that there is no naked flame around when the two banjo's strike up... volatile!
hey robbie, it aint the prettiest studio I've worked in but MAN you get a fabulous sound!!! so i can't wait for my next project at Sound Ideas. see you in august. moz
Wow! Congratulations on the new bub! How exciting... Yeah, excuse my ignorance - I hardly ever watch telly and never read the paper so didn't realise Newcastle had been hit by those storms until a coupla days ago. And that ship is huge! May it be moved soon! Enjoy the new baby land :) xo

Fantastic to see you up and running on Myspace Robbie. Can't recommend your studio too highly to anyone looking for a quality recording at a sane price!! The 4 new tracks I recorded with the band in January came up astoundingly well. My producer said it was one of the EASIEST files he'd ever received with minimal editing required. HOWZAT for a recommendation!!!
thanks a heap
