S.O.S is an audio-visual experience incorporating music, filmmaking and photography. Music covers the songwriting talent of Neil Smith (music) and Nicholas Ruck(lyrics). Great emphasis is placed on melody because of its importance in conveying specific moods and emotions. Guest musicians and vocalists are called upon for various tracks keeping the creativity and spontaneity flowing. SOS have worked with a host of talented vocalists and musicians and hopefully will continue to do so. SOS songs have been recorded and published in UK, Europe, North America and Australia. SOS encapsulates a variety of genre from ballads to classic rock from quirky dance to stripped acoustic and from country rock to ethereal instrumentals.
Filmmaking has involved the success of the award winning video short 'Speaks Volumes', 'Bridges' included in the Viewfinder Film Festival, Manouche Guitars featured on Central TV, contemporary silent movie short 'Nosferatu' and full length documentary 'Destination New York' which followed 17 disabled youngsters for a once in a lifetime trip from the Uk to the Big Apple.(see www.myspace.com/sosfilm for film and photography details)
