Stevano Ugo,
'I grew up listening to both American and African music and wanted to create songs that would be appreciated by all. It's not who you are or where you're from, it's about believing' in yourself as you connect with others. Music is universal'. When I write and produce for S.O.U.R.C.E. International, I like to take everybody's input then go off own my own and create a master piece then get feed back from the crew and our family plus the fans cause once I'm done with a record, it's what others feel that really matters to me.
S.O.U.R.C.E-Int’lClique (S.O.U.R.C.E International) Bio
Positive messages and Culture are integral parts of hip-hop, but by 1998, those elements had long been temporarily eclipsed by the tough gangsta image and bleak but compelling lyrics of West Coast groups and East Coast bling bling rappers. However, despite sharing a hardcore sense of street life,S.O.U.R.C.E-Int’l Clique’s vision goes beyond the cracked-sidewalk vignettes and sampled gun fire of Los Angeles' gangsta style, NY stuntin’ or down south hustle and misogamy. The socially conscious group's earliest connections go back to high school when S.I. Clique member, Stevano U-G-O’s video featuring Digable Planets was released on B.E.T’s Rap City and simultaneous became the first African Hip-Hop track to be played on Nigerian radio with an audience of over 50 million listeners.
Only a couple years after the brutal murder of S.O.U.R.C.E.International founding member and Stevano Ugo’s brother, Amara ‘Lo” Alo, their sister and S.I. Clique member won Nigerian Entertainment Award’s “Best Female Hip-hop Act”category in2006 still nothing stopped the family business from sticking together as a crew. Herby “LuvBug” Azor offered the group their first major deal but amongst major label consolidation and torment over their brother’s death,Stevano UGO, K-Naija, Tamara and dj Trini opted to form their own company, Source-Intl Corp. with a celebrity silent partner, Doodlebug, ofthe Grammy award winning group Digable Planets. S.I.C. began playing shows around L.A.& DC, impressing hip-hop fans with their mike skills and dazzling them with their African Culture as well. A Tupac reunion show a couple years ago landed them a front page calendar section of the Los Angeles Times.
In 2008 after overcoming grave loss, and making significant impact in the African community, S.O.U.R.C.E –Int’l Clique has finally concluded their self-titled debut E.P, and full-length mix tape titled, “The Game is Changing”. S.I.Clique will be featured as an opening act for Miami’s 1stannualSummerFest featuring fellow African artist, Akon, Lil Wayne, and Keyshia Cole, sponsored by Vision Entertainment .The cross-cultural rap band continues togarner much respect throughout Nigeria, Washington, DC, LA, and Miami streets and communities. Not only for the unique quartet of MCs, Singer, and DJ but fortheir African live show and backing dancers as well. Featuring guest appearances from Digable Planet’s Doodlebug and Pharcyde’s SlimKid Tre, S.I.C's freshman effort, S.O.U.R.C.E (Soldier’s of Underground Reaching Corporate Empowerment) will be released in 2008 independently throughSource-IntlCorp/Itunes/Universal Music Group Distribution.
