Why study music at Southbank?
Cos it'll cost you a fraction of what you'd pay for a year at uni or a commercial music college for a start. Plus the facilities are amazing and brand new. AND we really DO have current working musicians, sound engineers, songwriters and film composers as teachers.
Past students include Andrew G (Australian Idol) - good bass player too you might not know, Aria Award winner Shane Nicholson, DJ Katch (Resin Dogs), Xy Latu (winner of the X Factor).
Bet you didn't know that Savage Garden's Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones used to rehearse at our school before they were famous. We've been quietly supporting the Queensland music industry for almost twenty years. But now it's time to speak out!!
Our sound engineer students have worked with The Veronicas, Alchemist, crewed for Pearl Jam, helped record and produce Regurgitator, guitar teched for Pink. They even crew for festivals while studying...an awesome way of meeting bands and getting to know the live sound world. Students have done the Big Day Out, the Byron Bay Blues Festival, the Gympie Muster, to name a few. Our students really are out there and working successfully all around the world. Just check out recent graduate Anthony Mathews' myspace site. Great pics of his recent tour with The Veronicas. http://www.myspace.com/anthonymathews
By the way, don't be fooled by the rock image, Southbank Rockschool is not just about rock. We cater for all contemporary styles of music, except jazz and classical, which are well catered for by the universities. Government funding has been supporting classical music and jazz for yonks. This is despite contemporary music making the big bucks. Southbank Rockschool was set up in the early 90's to try and rebalance the status quo. We are the original Aussie contemporary, commercial music school...and the best.
We've had Nashville songwriting award winners, rock award winners, JJJ winners, salsa band, hip hop heads, electronic gurus and DJ student graduates. Want to know more? Check out our official website - www. southbankrockschool.com - or just ring Wendy (617) 3244 5741 for some one on one help.

I hope the new students can stomp the piss (musically and alcoholically) as well as we did last year. I had an absolute blast and it took the cake as the best year of my life. Keep me posted on any event that I can come along to because I'd love to check out the fresh meat.
Also, if anybody feels like it, check out my Autumnfixx project which is going along brilliantly.
