Influences
The Mule is influenced by the late great Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, the Carter Family, and newer groups like the Seldom Scene, Hot Rize and Blue Highway.
Southbound Mule - Oklahoma's favorite Bluegrass band (they hand out nickels to the kiddies if they clap) - has been hard at work coming up with new songs and re-working old ones for the new year. And they're chomping at the bit to get back out among their dozens of fans and provide them with their daily required dosage of good-time music.
Formed in 2005, Southbound Mule plays an non-eclectic mix of old favorites and new standards - everything from Bill Monroe (and earlier) to Vince Gill. They are known far and wide for their hard-driving style, high-energy vocals and tight harmonies. And don't let the tin-type fool you - they clean up good, too.
Based in and about the Norman, Oklahoma region, this ragtag band of Bluegrass brethren are willing and able to travel whenever and wherever someone is willing to cover their gas and food costs. They're not in it for the money (lucky for you) - just the fame, glory and adulation that goes hand in hand with obscure local Bluegrass bands!

HELP PUT THE STANLEY BROTHERS IN THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME!
Ralph Stanley has received many well-deserved honors in the last few years, yet one honor eludes him. While many of their fellow musicians and singers have been recognized by The Country Music Hall of Fame, THE STANLEY BROTHERS have been sadly -- some say criminally -- overlooked.
Jeanie Stanley, youngest daugher of Carter, and fan Kaye Hill have organized an on-going petition to change all that.
"The Country Music Hall of Fame recognizes those persons who have made a significant contribution to the country music field," says Hill. "The Stanley Brothers helped lay the foundation for what we have today. Their names deserve to be listed among greats like Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, who have already be recognized."
You can join their efforts in one of the following ways:
Contact the CMHoF directly:
Mr. Kyle Young, President
Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum
222 Fifth Avenue South
Nashville TN 37203
Or, if you prefer, you can send a letter to Kaye Hill, who will forward them to the HoF.

PO Box 2553

Kay says, "a simple one-line note is all that would be required, but please remember to supply your name and address, and an email address if applicable. I will be collecting all letters and forwarding them to the Country Music Hall of Fame."
