BioSouthDown is an alternative rock band based out of the New Orleans area, whose sound is an amalgamation of grunge, heavy metal, and pop. The group has touched upon a variety of themes in their songs, including: spirituality, friendship, heartbreak, substance abuse, and even run-ins with the law. In support of their debut EP, I Found My Soul (2009), SouthDown released the anthemic title track as a promotional single, followed shortly by the tributary sing-along "Joey." Both songs garnered significant air time on local radio and helped push the band further into the public eye. In 2010, SouthDown released an unabashed spiritual ode entitled "Angel (Not a Human Being)," which became a sizable hit in the south Louisiana region. The band went in a bold, new direction when it collaborated with rapper and labelmate Co-Ruff on the synth-driven "Beast Inside," a hip-hop jam that soon got exposure on ESPN via college basketball programs. Later that year, SouthDown embarked on an east coast tour of the United States with Co-Ruff and fellow-Louisiana rockers 12 Stones. As of 2011, SouthDown has signed with N-Liv/No Limit Forever Records.
