Professional Affiliations Currently Tutoring and Lecturing at Victoria University Design School as well as undertaking Master’s research for a new VJ project.

2000-2004 Director of project shown* a collective promoting experimental video art by facilitating screenings and events.

Someone wrote this about me for a gig last year it’s pretty much on the nail.

"This diminutive digital darling, formally Vj D.light, now performs under her own fabulous name.

Vj-ing for over 9 years across New Zealand, she is known for defying the odds and sticking to %100 original content, which is sensationally rare! Like a passionate botanist she travels great distances to remote locations with eyes wide open to gather samples of unique, organic, abstract, timeless and naturalised images, with a dash of urban. These specimens merge and layer in emotive colour, shape and movement.

As a video artist her images have screened internationally and she is remembered for presenting spectacular live video performances at the legendary Gathering, Kaikora Roots festival, Visions down beat cafe, Destinations, Alpine unity’s main zone, and many a Massive productions outdoor seasonal rave.

Gaining a reputation as a southern wanderer, she sails under the radar projecting and reconfiguring her ever-growing collection for your viewing pleasure with technical precision. Watch for the albatross.

Creativity, inspiration, professionalism, a few electric shocks and don’t forget a little bit of bump and grind combine in a tinkering fusion of Naomi Lamb’s many talents."

Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Video After Dark on Inertia an experimental video with UK sound artists A Glass Of MilK..."Apparently, as in Lamb’s video, inertia can give us pause for thought, or it can drive us crazy."

New Zealand Wilderness Magazine, November Issue..."In late May Stasi Turnbull and I [Sally Farr Biswell] drove up to meet artist Naomi Lamb in Karamea...Lamb is a new media artist known for her insightful video work and VJ mixes. She chose Karamea and the Heaphy Track for the dramatic scenery, but also for personal reasons. ’My Mum carried me on her back across the Heaphy when I was 18 months old...Its an amazing place, a place I want to capture on film, and there are so many stories here..."

Found in Presto magazine...Tania Boe of the Blue Earth Gallery thought my exhibition"...’A Moment of pause’ achieves in creating a feeling of awe and discovery, a beautiful series of strong yet tranquil imagery unique to our home."

Movies

The Wanderer is my latest screen installation. Offering the viewer a place to relax and be immersed in the stunning visual delight that lies hidden in the Kahurangi National Park. To have a real world experiance of this you must be up for walking a full 4 days....

In the past you may have seen some of these experimental videos of mine, maybe on a big screen or in an installation, or perhaps they were being recontextualised during a live projection remix one night....just maybe...xxx

Re-creation Recreation, ('99)immersive audio visual photo realist 3d animation and video installation...

some days and private, ('00)meditative experimental shorts that explore an introverted visual exploration of small towns and interiors...

G1 ('01)This 22 minute experimental Documentary presents an overview of what the legendary Gathering party had to offer in 2000. over 17000 party people converged in Takaka to experiance a three day outdoor New Year festival like no other. ...

Over view ('03)the imagery of a flight over the Canturbury plains edited to fit an installation site in Germany, the meditative movement in a circular frame abstracts the subject and draws the viewer to make his or her own reflections.

Old News ('04)The creation of this multi media installation and video was on location in South Korea during an international environment symposium. the third incarnation of this installation was on tour for two years as part of the New Alchemists (art in reclamed materials) tour...

Forgotten Islands Of the South Pacific ('05)with no real intent other that to gather amazing footage on an amazing experiance I made an experimental visual journal while experiancing some of the Sub-Antartic Islands of New Zealand, this was also edited on location...in this case a ice breaker ship in the middle of the Southern Ocean(vj samples abounded after this trip)

Picturesque ('06)An immersive live screen art performance that explores the relationship we have with nature, the colonial undercurrent to control our environments but sometimes its best to let nature be and be free...

Bookswould rather only read if i can write in the margins.......better yet you read something and tell me about it...

Thanks for your friendship!!!

Happy Halloween!

"There are nights
When the wolves are silent
And only the moon howls.
How like a queen
Comes forth the lonely Moon
From the slow opening curtains
Of the clouds
Walking in beauty
To her midnight throne!
On Halloween,
Witches come true;
Wild ghosts escape from dreams.
Each monster dances in the park....
Shadows of a thousand years
Rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees,
"Tonight is Halloween!"
Backward, turn backward,
O Time, in your flight
Make me a child again
Just for to-night!"

(From many poets)
