Fronted by vocalist Michelle Griffin, an Alabama native, her four octave range has always been the signature sound for the group. Classically trained, and with a degree in theatre earned before the age of twenty, her look and sound has always drawn comparisons of Janis Joplin by those who hear and see Montgomery Alabama's new Blues Queen.
The band is also led by Shane Earnest, a Texas-transplant to Alabama, on guitar and occasionally bass as well. His blues stylings have been likened to Robin Trower; he credits the "magic blues-beans" for his most recent influence, eaten while dining in a blues bar in Memphis, Tn.
Bobby Thunder is a veteran of regional touring bands and an experienced performer. He handles percussion and vocals, easily grooving on a wide variety of music including blues, jazz, reggae, rock, metal and punk. A balanced player, he is able to handle the dynamics of SoComfy really well.

With origins dating to '91, the SCBB has been making music locally and regionally for over fifteen years.
They have enjoyed entertaining people using all styles of music, from folk to heavy rock. The classic rock and psychedelic music of the 60's & 70's was always a standard in their sets, and after fielding constant requests for the music of Janis Joplin & BigBrother, they have been performing a tribute to this icon of the SF sound.
Their show includes many of Janis' greatest hits, as well as her early work with Big Brother & The Holding Co, and even her first recordings of folk songs played in Texas clubs. A high energy act, they do their best to give the show Janis would want to give, to the delight of die-hard Janis fans as well as those who are new to hearing her.
Before dedicating the focus of their shows to "spreading the Janis Gospel", the group had most recently written & performed an original rock opera using traditional and experimental East Indian instruments and rhythms, blended with blues, rock, and folk stylings. While folk artist Calvin Livingston painted characters from the story of Inanna, Goddess of Love (the subject of their work), The House Of Blues filmed part of their performance for its "Blues in the Schoolhouse" series.
The Southern Comfort Blues Band has played live for festivals and clubs throughout the southeastern US. They have four independent studio releases, as well as four live releases (see discography for details).
The latest release, "Lonesome Blues", reaches back to the origins of their music, and features new original compositions and blues standards. SCBB is already hard at work on their next album, their tenth release, while enjoying gigs from New York to Texas.
