About me:
Where we stand

We, the people, are certain that a better world is possible. We believe in a future where all people strive to live in harmony with each other and the natural environment; where conflict is resolved non-violently; and where the root causes of social and economic injustices are eradicated.

We believe there can only be peace in the presence of justice, so as we oppose war, we also work for justice and the protection of human rights for all. We believe that peace and security at home are linked to peace and security abroad. We welcome a diversity of ideas to help us see the connections between our government’s propensity for war and the injustices that afflict our communities.

We welcome all who strive to create a better world.

What GPJC can do for all of us

By creating a forum for statewide coordination and cooperation while providing access to much needed information and alternative education to frequently neglected constituencies, GPJC nurtures our growing peace and justice community and enhances the strength of Georgia's progressive movement.

Please join with us, so together we can become a statewide political force to contend with.

Cost of War: 6 Years Later

A Speaking Tour on the Cost of the Iraq War

ATLANTA, GA The American Friends Service Committee and Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition will be traveling the state of Georgia March 16-22, 2009. The tour will visit various college campuses to mark the sixth anniversary of the Iraq war. The goal of this tour is to educate Georgians on the human and economic cost of war in Iraq. American Friends Service Committee’s critically acclaimed Cost of War exhibit will be on display along with two powerful speakers.

Raed Jarrar was born in Baghdad and spent most of his life in Iraq. In 2005 Jarrar came to the United States and has worked on many Iraq related projects, as a translator, interpreter, consultant and political analyst. Since the summer of 2006, Jarrar has worked at bridging the gap between Iraqi leaders and U.S. Congress members by arranging a series of face-to-face meetings between U.S. and Iraqi leaders.

Jason Hurd, is the Southeast Regional Director of Iraq Veterans against the War. Jason spent ten years in the Army and National Guard and was deployed in 2005 to Iraq as a medic. Since returning to the U.S. Jason has been an advocate for Iraq veterans and a leading voice in the G.I. resistance movement.

We've now had 5 years of lies about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The real reasons were oil, profiteering, and fascism. Not just Bush, but the news media, most of congress, and all who remain silent. And now they'll use fear to quash dissent. It's nothing new -- it's been going on for ages. War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric
