Sounds Like
Southern rock with an Americana twist and a heavy dose of Red Dirt
After finishing up an incredible 2008 on the road where Southern Drive was fortunate to share the stage with some of the genres leading bands including, Ragweed, Wade Bowen, Reckless, Eli Young, Gary Kyle, Band of Heathens…..you get the idea, the boys would just like to reflect and say thank you to everyone that made the year as momentous as possible. Currently SD is in the studio working on the follow up to their debut album “Take a Ride” (March 2008), and plan on getting the second album out to everyone by summers end. So keep your eyes and ears open for those tracks to hit the airways soon.
Here is a sneak peek of "Dance" ...one of the new tracks from the upcoming ablum
...and this little guy is our pet Armadillo that we take everywhere...his name is Brick....he is such a boozer!!!
***Donnie Rex*** Born in Enid but calls OKC home...just glad to be here..."Always be thankful for where you are, but never forget where you came from...''
***Kevin Garinger*** Grew up in Abiline TX off Buffalo Gap road playin with snapping turtles down the street from the water tower and the Methodist Church. Family picnics are the best, expecially the 4th of July in Edmond with the grandparents and then on to Guthrie for our own personal fireworks show put on by the Uncle. Lake Murray trips and jumpin off the waterfalls in Sulfur OK. Played trumpet in the band in highschool and college including jazz, orchestra, marching, basketball, choir, and various other performances. Got a degree from OU and now is a nerd with a rockstar hobbie. One good quote "On Judgement Day everyone will be held accountable for every permissable thing they could have enjoyed but didnt."
***Joel McCreary*** Enid, OK originally raised. A professional chef, he blazes on the drums at night as hot as the fire he works with during the day.
***Taylor McCreary*** Imported from Oklahoma, collects spores, molds and fungus.
***Russell Wilson*** Native Texan born in Amarillo that has drifted through many styles of music from hard rock, funk, jam band, punk and blues to find a home with Southern Drive. Hailing from Dallas, Texas; he began playing music on his Grandma’s acoustic guitar during summers in Austin. At a young age he traded a video game system for his first bass guitar and never looked back. Besides layin’ down the groove, he enjoys mountain bike riding, partying ‘til the sun comes up, and floating on any Texas river. Things can be rough trying to do what you love, but “I’d rather struggle on my feet, than live on my knees.”
