Annabelle's Interests
|
| General | Books; filmmaking; journalism; working out | | Music | Anything without a cartoon or toddler-theme...really into Harry Connick, Jr. at present, along with country western music. But I'm moving back toward my old 70s rock group. Go figure. Oh yeah, and the Boss. I know ALL his lyrics. | | Movies | Anything Southern, from "Gone with the Wind" and "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe" to "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Steel Magnolias." There are a few more, like "Jerry MaGuire," but why oh why did Tom Cruise go so weird on us all, y'all? | | Television | House, Grey's Anatomy, The Apprentice, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Survivor | | Books | Anything by the great Southern writers ... and of course all the modern ones, too like Pat Conroy (best novelist this side of 1975), Dorothea Benton Frank, Deborah Ford, Patti Callahan Henry, and Haywood Smith to name just a few.
Oh, and recently, I've become enamored with Chris Rose, who won the Pulitzer for his book of essays on life in New Orleans, post-Katrina. It's called "1 Dead in Attic," and it's phenomenal. | | Heroes | Working mothers, stay-at-home mothers, work-from-home mothers - go, ladies! |

About me:
I'm a true blue Southern Girl born and raised in North Carolina, although I spent a decade abroad in Switzerland, England and Canada. We've lived in Atlanta, GA, since 1997 but have recently moved to Southern California, courtesy of the U.S. Air Force (where husband is a chaplain).
My first book, "The Southern Girl's Guide to Surviving the Newlywed Years: How to Stay Sane Once You've Caught Your Man" was published in January 2007. Don't let the title fool you, though - it's not just for Southern Girls! That's me and my perspective. In fact, it's not just for newlwyeds, either. It's for anyone who has ever wanted to strangle a man...which pretty much means any woman. And if you haven't ever had that particular urge, then you must be either engaged or a newlywed - which means you definitely need the book, to know what to do when it finally strikes!
So stay sweet, y'all! And send me a note anytime!

Who I'd like to meet:
Okay...so for awhile now I've had this crush on Nic Cage. Yes, I know he's not the go-to Hollywood hottie, and some would even say he's weird. (The Lisa-Marie phase was bizarre, I'll grant you.) But I actually met Cage last week, and I'm here to report that he's extremely charismatic, intelligent and well spoken.
