South Essex Film Makers's Blurbs |
About me:
South Essex Film Makers are a collective of creative, enthusiastic, experienced and talented award-winning film makers who are interested in producing entertainment through various forms of multimedia. Perhaps the modern phrase that best describes what we do is Multimedia Group. By sharing our knowledge, resources and time we strive to make quality amateur productions. Our members capture still and moving images and then by using a variety of techniques to turn them into programmes that can be viewed and enjoyed by an audience. But as well as this, and probably more importantly, is the opportunity the group offers to share their passion and skills with like-minded others.
There is much more to the group than being just film makers. There is the wealth of experience to be tapped into, the experience of having your hard won footage shown on the big screen and then to be critiqued. There is a social side too. You can’t stand in a group and have a chat with a cup of tea in one hand and a Twix in the other on any form of networking site! As well as sharing experiences face to face with people you can compete in friendly competitions and make new friends by coming to any of our meetings. Many of our group have struck up life-long friendships through South Essex Film Makers.
Our experience has helped us in winning many awards over the years. We won and held the North Thames Region Triangle trophy for a record three successive years, 2005 to 2007 awarded by the IAC The Film and Video Institute, a non-pro organisation to which we are affiliated. Our members have also won many external awards beyond our organisation and the IAC. Many members have had their films shown on national TV.
South Essex Film Makers also like to get out and about in the community to various diverse groups and organisations where we provide entertainment by showcasing our films.
South Essex Film Makers meet on Monday evenings from September until May. A full programme of events and our location details are available on our website.
We are proud that past Patrons included the likes of the great film director, Alfred Hitchcock and TV’s home-movie prankster Jeremy Beadle, who sadly died in 2008. We are currently in the process of finding a new Patron equal in stature. To read more about our organisation’s past, click on the South Essex Film Makers History blog.
