South Gate has too many influences to list, dating back to the dawn of speed/thrash metal in the early eighties to the "new wave of American metal" of today. If Black Sabbath and Devil Driver joined forces and formed their own version of Pantera, set a course due North in the land of metal and enjoyed some cold beers listening to Slipknot and Lamb of God cd's....it would be called South Gate " ------------------------South Gate is an original four piece metal band that hails from Detroit, Mi. SG has the ability to be a heavier band yet be marketable to the masses and not seem at all out of place appearing on the heaviest of lineups. The band has to date written fourteen songs, three of which have been released on a self-recorded and produced EP called "Psychological Warfare". The members of SG, have combined, over fifty years of musical experience, they have together been involved in well known local acts such as Tread and Twist of Fate, along with countless hours of studio work, which will produce a debut full length release in the late spring of 2006.----------------- SG has caught the attention of legendary Detroit rock station, 101.1 WRIF and it's very popular program, Midnight Metal (wrif.com/midnightmetal), getting regular airplay beginning 8-22-2004 up to the present. SG has become one of the fastest growing bands in the Detroit area, not as much by the frequency of their shows, but in their dedication to promoting their music and getting the name out to the public. To this point the band is focusing on quality shows versus quantity, having opened for Genitorturers twice, WASP, Soil, Six Feet Under, Metal Church, Hatebreed, Black Label Society and most recently Anthrax. The band is obviously considered "metal", but their music is actually hard to categorize. This is a band that has written songs that will not only please the most hard-core metal fans (Slayer, Hatebreed, Sepultura), but envelop a much broader, more mainstream, "radio friendly" crowd as well (Mudvayne, Stone Sour, Slipknot). Which brings us to our final point, the future. South Gate has big plans for the coming months and years, they are currently seeking a major label deal, but have no problem in doing what it takes to "make it" with their own indie label Blood Brother Records if need be. ------------------------ Power, Experience, Professionalism, Confidence and the ever important element of Anger, five words that truly describe what the metal world will soon come to know as, South Gate.-------------------- This is some very serious material that must... and will be heard...enjoy.!!!.......
