Engaging and enraging audiences all over the country, Craig Boyd and Southland bring the party to the people all night, night after night. Having logged over 200 live dates in 2008 and pushing 250 for 2009, the stage is home to these guys bringing the best of Country and Rock to the ears of thousands of fans, who know it ‘s more than just listening to a band it is an over-the-top entertainment experience.
Dallas TX born Craig Boyd (Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar) set his sights on Nashville after growing up leading vocal groups and playing bass in rock bands. With his smooth as cognac voice and head full of songs he gained a publishing deal, became an in-demand session vocalist, and began assembling what would become Southland. Described as the “Motley Crue of Country”, the vision is to take not only the music but the party to the people.
Receiving his first guitar on his 12th birthday, Jacob Earles (Lead Guitar, Vocals) grew up absorbed in the bluegrass music of his Virginia family. Upon moving to Nashville, Jake experienced gigs with various artists, songwriting and performing in his own band, and appearances on the stage of the Grand Old Opry.
Discovering the guitar at the age of 8, Derek Isaacs (Lead Guitar, Vocals) learned to play in the family church before hitting the Richmond KY club circuit at age 17 with various country and rock acts. An opening slot on Tim McGraw’s 2007 Soul 2 Soul tour led him to make the move to Nashville.
Jesse Hanks (Bass) grew up in Osage Beach MO first learning to play guitar before switching to bass. After growing up performing in school groups, church groups, his Dad’s band and other nightclub acts quietly underage, Jesse headed for Nashville.
Growing up on rock and roll in Detroit MI, Jeff Mulvihill (Drums) has performed as drummer and percussionist in a wide range of musical situations. The move to Nashville led Jeff to live and studio performances with a number of artists and bands as well as appearances with Aretha Franklin and symphony orchestras throughout the southeast.
Friends of friends and chance meetings within the Nashville melting pot brought Craig Boyd and Southland together as they are now; A fierce, talent-laden musical force never taking no for an answer and never taking a back seat to anyone. Craig Boyd and Southland have brought a license to thrill to club and festival audiences throughout the country receiving rave reviews, praise from radio, encores, and standing ovations at every stop.
