Bio
Meet the new local band that's making their mark on the University music scene, who tbt* praised as a "genre-blending quartet". As the geographical name of the band suggests, the music of South of Holly reflects the experiences of our lives here in the Tampa Bay area, especially as college students. These themes of love, loss, personal growth and fun times are as universal and timeless as the melodies and harmonies are catchy and moving. South of Holly's diverse sound is a result of the varied yet complementary musical tastes and stylistic influences amongst the members, ranging from hardcore drum rhythms and driving bass to bluesy guitar riffs and flamenco-style licks. In addition to being talented at a wide array of musical techniques, the members of South of Holly are also lively and expressive performers, whose love for music can be easily felt by their energized crowd. Since their most recent incarnation in the fall of '11, the band has been putting in some serious time on the bar circuit, frequenting Pegasus Lounge, Green Parrot, and more recently, The Orpheum. Thanks to their success on the performance circuit, South of Holly will be self-releasing an EP in the Spring, and has plans for a full, professional album to follow. -
