Carlos Coy was born on October 5, 1970. A sensitive child and the youngest of three, he was raised in the ghetto's of Houston, Texas by a working mother and an absentee father for the majority of his young life. His brother and sister spent time with him filling in while his mother worked. His first influence into music was playing the violin in his early years of school. He excelled and found a love that was to contribute to his success in the music industry. While in high school, he was introduced to break-dancing and rapping. From that time on, he had found his calling without even realizing what his future held. Rough times, rough neighborhoods, some illegal activity – and MUSIC…became the life of CARLOS COY, now known as South Park Mexican, the first Hispanic rapper and the fastest rising in the South. He quickly became a name that RAP wouldn't forget! Beginning by selling CD's out of the trunk of his car, hitting every car show, flea market and swap meet that he could find, South Park Mexican went from hustling on the street smooth talking strangers to signing with Universal Studios. Through the years, SPM has been featured in magazines such as NEWSWEEK, LOWRIDER and MURDER DOG. His music has touched the lives of fans across the world and his notoriety spread from Texas and Louisiana into Colorado, New Mexico and California. SPM became an icon to his heritage and his fans as he increased awareness through encouraging the young to stay in school, away from drugs and out of gangs. In 1995, Carlos Coy and his brother Arthur Coy launched Dope House Records and shortly after Hustle Town Distribution. Within weeks of opening, Hustle Town had sold over 2500 copies of SPM! Years passed as SPM and Dope House climbed the ladder of success. The Dope House Family thrived…haters struggled to take them down! With success came heartbreak for SPM aka Carlos Coy, he was sentenced to 45 years and is currently incarcerated within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In November 2008, Dope House Records released the South Park Mexican's tenth CD entitled The Last Chair Violinist. Dope House Records has plans to drop the 11th SPM album "The Son of Norma" in the fall of 2009. "Dope Sells Itself," said Carlos. He was right. He did and to this day continues to remain in the hearts of fans everywhere.
