Johnny Orr & the South Station Band are “going all the way to Nashville” said WQDR’s morning show after a blazing night at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC. Johnny and the band are really cookin' this year. They’ve been the support act for Kenny Chesney, Lee Ann Rimes, Phil Vassar, and the Zac Brown Band. They’ve won several competitions along the way, including being the local winners of the WQDR/ Kenny Chesney “Next Big Star” competition.. Johnny was a national finalist for “Nashville Star“ being one of 50 out of over 20,000 contestants. Johnny was also on the show “Big Break with Sara Evans” which aired summer of 2007 on CMT. Johnny & South Station are a great Country & Rock mix. Their sound starts with a marinade of some harmonies like that of “Little Big Town”, mix that with the passion and grit from “Bruce Springsteen” and Edwin McCain and you’d have this power house train that’s headed out of the station as fast as they can. With Johnny Orr’s voice and his song writing being the engine that pulls this thing, this train isn’t stopping anytime soon.
