South Thunderbird, which is also Isaac’s spiritual name (Aboriginal name). Isaac was born and raised on the Whitedog Ojibway Reserve (Wabseemoong First Nation 100km North of Kenora ON). Isaac was blown away when he first heard Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music and that’s when he knew he wanted to play the blues. Isaac has been influenced by lots of old and new artist of blues music some of Isaac’s influences are BB, Albert, Freddy King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie, Jimmie Vaughan and Colin James.
South Thunderbird has been nominated for 5 national awards, the 2007 Native America Music Awards for BEST BLUES/JAZZ recording and the 2005 Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA) in the Outstanding Blues Recording category for their album "Tough Go". We were also nominated for Best Blues Album and Best Group or Duo at the 2005 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and nominated at the 2006/2007 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards in Winnipeg for BEST BLUES CD, winners of Best New Artist at 2005 Winnipeg Blues.com awards. Chase was 1 song for the month of August 2005 on NCI radio (Manitoba Aboriginal radio station) top 30 count down and Goin in Blind was 2 in CBC National internet radio count down for September 2005. South Thunderbird also had a privilege to share the same stage with Indigenous (www.indigenous.com), from South Dakota, Ronnie Baker Brooks (www.ronniebakerbrooks.com, from Chicago Illinois, Gary Primich (www.garyprimich.com, from Austin Texas. South Thunderbird was recently in Hamilton Ontario March, 2007 taping a television program for APTN and Bravo Network called RezBluez 2 which is the second time the band has been invited. Also had numerous television appearances on City TV Breakfast Television Winnipeg, Manitoba and is invited to perform in Thief River Falls Minnesota USA for the 2007 International Blues Festival run by Seven Clans Casino.
