SOUTHWORLD is a solid group of musicians from Johannesburg/Pretoria South africa. The members all come from experienced bands which achieved relative success in South Africa.
The band has an undeniable chemistry that can only be described as explosive when brought together in the same creative space. SOUTHWORLD displays a respect for the roots of where rock came from and where rock is headed. The music they are creating covers a fairly wide scope and crosses a lot of boundaries where melodies and hooks run the show.

SOUTHWORLD'S unique fusion of metal, rock and soul is even more impressive on stage, with an energetic and expressive show. The five piece outfit shows a special attention to audience interaction and their performances are pitch perfect and tight. No mean feat, but one that this band can be counted on, time and again.

The evolution of the band members as artists was marked with SOUTHWORLD'S debut album release OUT OF MY TREE (Distributed by Sony/Bmg) in 2007. OUT OF MY TREE was produced by SOUTHWORLD, mixed and mastered by Louis Enslin (Wickhead's S.A engineer).

After a much anticipated release, a string of Tv and radio interviews and performances followed along with a busy gigging roster. Including a main stage performance at woodstock 9 and an end of year tour with WICKHEAD(U.S) in South Africa.

The first single, RENOVATE achieved chart success on S.A campus radio stations for four months. RENOVATE also achieved chart success on the campus chart's for the MK89 show Studio1. The music video for RENOVATE aired in DECEMBER 2007 on MK89 and remains on MK89's current rotation. The acoustic version of RENOVATE has broken the band into national radio with airplay on East Coast radio. The acoustic side of the band shines a completely different light on their musical capabilities as they touch on Latin and Jazz styles. 2007 highlights also included Endorsement from Music Connection and sponsorship from Converse.

2008 has started with the release of the group's second single TOGETHER. TOGETHER went straight to television making a debut on MK89's reality show Matrix in January. A release date for the acoustic E.P and live at WOODSTOCK 9 D.V.D is still to be confirmed.

After a stumble in the first few months of 2008 southworld lost two core members andrew duggan ( returned and reunited with cutting jade ) and ian bushell for undisclosed reasons.
In july 2008 the band got word of relocating to london UK now as a four piece and featuring new front man EDDY VAN VEEN.
Eddy is a dynamic, inspired, emotionally charged power package front man, and the band really enjoys working with him.
The new material is an interesting change from the past including slightly heavier elements of metal and hard rock, with a whole new range of interests and inspiration driving the band.
The opportunity has came about that has finally allowed the band to relocate and take on a new horizon, All the member s know that it will be extremely tough to get onto their feet but hard work and determination will get them far.
The band has started work on the new album and will hopefully be releasing it early 2009 both in the UK and SOUTH AFRICA. stay posted
