I love to study and do research, particularly about Christianity, the Bible, theology, legal issues generally, and history (particular favorite areas of historical interest are U.S. History (particularly the Civil War, Constitutional Law, the Revolution, and Baseball history), Imperial Russian History, and Music History). I love music (especially Jazz). I am a HUGE fan of the Chicago White Sox. I'm also into classic films, theater, and generally being goofy.
Jazz (Big Band, especially Frank Sinatra and that era of popular music), Classical (Brahms!), the great 70s era pop sound that featured horn sections (Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Lighthouse, Tower of Power etc.), and Christian popular music and the "new wave" of worship music. I am majorly into XM Sattelite Radio, for Jazz (especially XM 73, "Frank's Place"), Christian music on "the Fish," Classical, Old Time Radio, and of course MLB broadcasts!
Movies
I love old movies, especially musicals (like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly), but any fine film can grab my attention.
Television
I never watch television, except to watch movies via DVD or VCR. (I follow the White Sox on the radio).
Books
The Bible, of course. All time faves (not ranked in any order) "The Cost of Discipleship" Dietrich Bonhoffer; "Mere Christianity," "The Great Divorce," all 7 "Chronicles of Narnia," all by C.S. Lewis; "The Normal Christian Life," Watchman Nee; 3 volume "The Civil War" Shelby Foote; "The Killer Angels" Michael Shaara; "Peter the Great," "Nicholas and Alexandra" and "Dreadnought," all by Robert K. Massie; "Dynasty" by Peter Gollenbock; "Eight Men Out" by Elliot Asinof; "Nightfall at Nauvoo" by Samuel Taylor -- just to name a few. . .
Heroes
Jesus Christ, of course. Other personal heroes -- people who i know who live extraordinary lives -- include my wife, Dr. John Sullivan, Pastor Ed Kannapel, and Mike Aquaviva. But if I could have a meal where any 5 people from history could attend and we could have a discussion, who would I want to talk to? (Jesus is left off this list, because as God, it wouldn't be fair to have him attend). This would be my 5: Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, Paul the Apostle, Johannes Brahms, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and John Marshall (Chief Justice, U.S. Supreme Court).

About me: This site is dedicated to musings about life, our relationship with God, the law, music, history, literature, baseball, family -- you name it!
*****
As for me, I'm an attorney working at a Christian health care organization dedicated to providing housing and health care to seniors. I specialize in health care regulation, employment, real estate and corporate law. In a former life, I was a music teacher and professional musician.
*****
I am married (23 years in July of 2007) and have 4 children (3 daughters and a son) ranging in ages from 11 to 18. My wife is band director and general music teacher at a Christian grade school, and is a world class flute player.
*****
My undergraduate degree is in music education. I am a singer and trombone player, and still occasionally perform at church or for a community event.
*****
I am very active in my church as a home group leader and as a musician in the worship team, but my greatest pleasure is working on the creative team that runs our church's children's ministry, "Kids Church." We write, produce and perform an original 45 minute program featuring music, drama, puppets, and any kind of entertainment a kid would be into in order to help bring those kids into God's kingdom. We perform twice a month from September through May each year. Its great!
*****
i am also very active in my community, where I have been elected as a trustee to the Public Library's Board of Directors (I currently serve as President), and I also serve as a member of the Planning and Development Commission.
*****
I am also an unabashed, lifelong, "dyed in the wool" devoted fan of the Chicago White Sox, the 2005 World Series Champions!!
Who I'd like to meet: President Bush
