About Space Camp and Aviation Challenge

Founded in 1982, SPACE CAMP and AVIATION CHALLENGE (1990), located in Huntsville, Alabama, use space and aviation as a platform to excite and educate children ages 7-18, in the fields of math, science and technology.

SPACE CAMP programs range from 3 to 8 days, during which teamwork, self confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art simulations, missions, rocket building and robotics.

AVIATION CHALLENGE programs range from 3 to 8 days, during which teamwork, self confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art high performance jet simulation, scenario-based missions, land and water survival training and flight dynamics.

In addition to program-specific training, attendees will experience all that the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Museum has to offer.

The cost of the camp includes all meals, lodging, program materials and activities. SPACE CAMP and AVIATION CHALLENGE have 24-hour medical and security staff on site.

About The U.S. Space & Rocket Center

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is home to Space Camp, Aviation Challenge and NASA's Official Visitor Information Center for Marshall Space Flight Center. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is recognized as one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world; including Spacedome Theater, Rocket Park, Shuttle Park and NASA's Educator Resource Center.

Opening to the public in February 2008, the Davidson Center for Space Exploration will become the new front door for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) complex, housing the visitor ticketing area and a 350-seat auditorium, along with the Saturn V rocket. Completion of this 68,200-square-foot building is the first stage in a USSRC plan to better showcase NASA and Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) contributions to historical, current, and future space exploration.

The USSRC, NASA's first visitor center, opened in 1970 and has served over 12 million visitors to date. As the Official Visitor Information Center for the Marshall Space Flight Center, the USSRC is committed to educating the public and students who attend SPACE CAMP about the work being done at MSFC, particularly in the area of propulsion where MSFC has made significant contributions in the Apollo and shuttle programs and is again on the forefront with the Ares rockets.

Here visitors may trace the evolution of humankind's ventures into space and watch as tomorrow's potential engineers, scientists and astronauts train in one of the Space Camp or Aviation Challenge Programs.
