The band features the song writing "talents" of Marc Fedak as well as Billy J. Coombs both on guitar as well as David J. Novak slinging the bass and drummer Dwight Schenk. Marc and Billy J met in the late 1980s (shortly before the release of Butthole Surfer's Hairway to Steven album) at college radio station 91.5 CJAM-FM (Windsor, Ontario) and come from the long-defunct Windsor psychedelic band "Groundwater". Bill has an interest in film and works in TV. Dwight plays in another Toronto band "Basement Arms", and also has numerous other side projects (eg. Slipper Orchestra). David and Marc also are in a subdued pop band called Yolassi, and were in a local country band called The Wanted before that for a few years. And as for following the advice of others: all of us have day jobs and yes we do intend to keep them (for now).
Past members: Johnny Deck, Richard P. Ford, Dominic, Stephen Dohnberg, Davin Goudie, David Lynch, Dwight Haddow.
Influences
"The Craft" combine the lo-fi sensibilities of the Velvet Underground and early Pink Floyd with a little Hawkwind, a dash of Butthole Surfers, 70's Miles Davis and any prog rock band you care to mention. A little country in the mix should confuse you right up!
Part collective/part intersteller communists, Spacecraft 7 have been around for ten years now! Can you believe it? We sure can't. Our goal: To become Canada's Pre-eminent Psychedelic Band. Or die trying.
___________
While maybe we have very little to show for it, we do deliver true Psychedelic/Indie/Prog rock as very few people CAN these days.
___________
Singing songs about Marcel DuChamp and Saddam Hussein ensure the band's mainstream popularity. No love songs from us!
___________
Coming from the grunge-laced nineties, "The Craft" retain their Anti-corporate stance. At least until a reasonable offer comes along! C'mon it's been ten years! Even Bob Dylan has sold out.
___________
Often described as self-indulgent/nerd-rockers, the band doesn't hold out much hope for their own popularity. "Usually we get the one weirdo dude on mushrooms who really digs us" says band brother Marc Fedak.
___________
With long, extended jams being the norm (but not in that hippy way), the band sounds better with every narcotic consumed (that's totally true).
These boys don't mess around (sure they do but not with each other).
___________
We also have a new album coming soon! Much anticipated (at least by us).

Hook up with Spacecraft 7. Realize your dreams. Get it on the Spacecraft way!
That was a great set at Sneaky Dees. Blue-collar psych-rock that's straight from the heart, and goes for your gut. That's what I always sense with Spacecraft 7, a band that just completely delivers. Always a pleasure to take off from ground control. The journey continues.
That was a great set at The Hargrave Pub, definitely captured the essence of spacerock and psych-music, and you guys as unit were absolutely tight and dynamic. A vital spark that radiated throughout the room.
Dropping by to say Hi. Nice to have you as one of my new peeps, Spacecraft 7. The Inside Story newspaper, Queer West Village, Toronto Parkdale. Don Quixote, editor in chief.
thanks man ! we went to "the barn" in stoney creek last sat-sun. the mix ain't the best and have yet to do proper mellotron overdubbs! but i'm glad you like the tunes !!
There are the leaders and the followers.
Give us a shout if you dig it.
Give a shout if you know where you stand.
Give a shout if you're into making the difference.
Saw you at the Cameron House last week. Thoroughly enjoyable, well done! Talked to a couple of you, but didn't get any names except Dwight, whom i already know. See you all again soon hopefully.
That was an impressive set at The Cameron, definitely capturing the spirit of Hawkwind, raw and hypnotic, and if I used my imagination--I can picture Calvert up there. Keep to your musical vision.
sick set yesterday boys, im actually thinking about organizing a psychdaelic show sometime in november...ill defitntly hook you guys up with that when the time comes...as long as you dont mind playing all ages...
