We are an eclectic three piece band out of Iowa City, IA consisting of drums, guitar, and bass. We have been playing together for the better of 5 years, which has really given us time to mesh our sound and our influences. Although we have been playing with keyboards for the past couple years we are now playing as a power three piece and working vigorously on our new sound, re-working older songs to fit into the new groove, as well as writing and recording. So far we only play in the mid-west headlining and opening in different clubs, venues, and bars. We have opened for New Monsoon, Cornmeal, Family Groove Company, Drums and Tuba, The Hackensaw Boys, Aswah Greggori, Wookie Foot, and Swivel Hips Smith, as well as enjoying stage time with a number of local bands and musicians.
The Filling Space sound can be described as a dense, lush sound with driving rythms and explosive, boisterous climaxes. Filling Space has a little something for everyone as we play an inclusive variety of music blending motifs from "Jam" band sound to bluegrass, dance, rock, country, funk, indie, punk, blues, and jazz all of which reflect the different musical personalities of each member. We blend structured meat-and-potatoes organic songcraft with complex, frenzied, emotive, improvisational jams creating a musical matrix where everyone is filling space
