space • ment (spas..ment) n. 1. a measuring or being measured by space
2. the bottom level of phil's house 3. a collective of musicians gathered in a very spaced out basement celebrating the music of Pink Floyd!
During the summer of 2002, Spacement was formed in Concord, CA as a basement band covering various classic and modern rock songs. In March of 2003, the band was offered their first gig, an opening slot for a sold out AC/DShe concert at the Bourbon Street Bar. Included in their set was a 20-minute Pink Floyd medley that would eventually change the course of the band. It would be a couple years and several member changes before the band’s primary focus became the music of Pink Floyd.
Now four years after Spacement’s first performance, the band has performed almost 40 times allover the S.F. Bay Area, including shows in San Francisco, Alameda, Belmont, Cotati, Cupertino, and more. In addition to AC/DShe, Spacement has shared bills with many established tribute acts including Zoo Station, Damage Inc., Powerage, The Iron Maidens, Frank Hannon, Larger Than Life and many others. Currently Spacement includes past and present members of Attitude Adjustment, Deathtoll, New Idol Sun, The Mothertruckers, Oppressed Logic, Molly McGuires and the Boogies.
Spacement captures the feel of Pink Floyd during the bands early 70’s performances with a diverse setlist that covers every era of Pink Floyd. For the last couple of years, Spacement has used it’s own laser show to help enhance the Pink Floyd experience. This year the band has purchased a state of the art light system that can be used to augment a larger venue’s existing light show.
