1ST CHAPTER: A TOUCHING COMEDY; UNDERGROUND TALENT VERSUS SYSTEMATIC PHILISTINISM
On its surface, time seems to be frozen into position but in basements something else is happening. Art keeps on going accompanied by adrenalin addiction, hope, daydreaming and insomnia. "Underground music" drug in Tehran whether as an upper, a downer or even a hallucinogen helps artists and music fans to pull themselves together. As a part of this independent underground movement, a duo started their musical journey decoded as Spacewalk or "comedy to stand up and play something unusual". The indie duo was formed & led by singer/songwriter Roozebelt since March 2006 when he was spending the last year of university. At this time, he invited his former band mate to join him to form a tight rock band that both of them had always dreamed of. In early August 2008, after writing & recording several songs & performing some private gigs, his friend was forced to leave the duo because of his personal issues and a wave of new challenges came over Spacewalk.
2ND CHAPTER: EMOTIONS RUN EVEN HIGHER: "BUGS IN A MOOD" COMEDY
Spacewalk won his first international award: "Maybe Someday" was awarded as finalist in "Song of the year" songwriting contest. When asked what inspired the song, he commented that: "maybe someday is just a beginning. It's about writing new, distinctive & at the same time catchy & popular songs". Despite the Severe problems, restrictions & difficulties imposed by a fanatic system of medieval "king nothing"s, Spacewalk kept on moving forward. Private recordings and even more private gigs made Spacewalk prepared for a bigger change. "We’ll keep on playing our music even if it makes 'em angrier." In February 2009, Spacewalk released its debut EP "Your rainbows after my acid rain" independently. It was released in physical format on a limited scale and then had a digital release available on iTunes, Rhapsody, AmazonMP3, Napster & some other Digital Music Stores.
3RD CHAPTER: HAPPY ENDING ON THE EDGE
When even a more stupid government turns up, you can see all your efforts going down the tubes. It was time to move and start somewhere else. "I'm not stuck with what I got anywhere but inside my head." Music has changed but maybe not so much. That’s the way Spacewalk likes it and keeps it: Alternative, Acoustic and Trip Hop with a pale splash of Electronica in a semi-experimental atmosphere. Currently a new EP is being acoustically recorded and is set to be released in July 2011.
