The “Swing Set Green” seeds were sewn in 2006 by the acoustic pop music of Lewis Farman and Hugh Middleton. Formerly known as “Spare Liar”, the duo was well-received and shared the stage with many Australian legends such as Killing Heidi, Mick Thomas, Carus & The True Believers and Dallas Crane.
The duo became a band in ’08 with the addition of three musical talents: Tim Ischia, Dan Berry and Ash Gowan. The new lineup widely extended both the sonic range and potential input in the writing and arranging phases.
Perhaps the reason why these 5 musicians gel so well is their enthusiasm to embrace each other's art. So often the intended musical effect is a common thread, and the way this effect is achieved is a journey that is not always expected. Each song is approached as a new artistic challenge with a clean slate for each instrumental sound. Hugh's violin lines are capable of giving a track that lush string aesthetic whilst other songs call for a dirtier, guitar-driven sound. The result is purposefully accessible pop music but with a rich and interesting foundation that sustains real musical integrity.
Each member of Swing Set Green has an impressive musical history of their own. Lewis is former guitarist of then-named Pug Jelly, a Singapore band now signed to Universal Records. Hugh holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Melbourne and has toured Europe with the Australian Youth Orchestra. Tim has extensive experience improvising in a variety of styles on guitar and was recently featured on Plenty Valley FM. The youngest of the group, Ash and Dan are both studying music at tertiary institutions and already establishing themselves in the Melbourne scene as versatile and capable instrumentalists.
Swing Set Green is dedicated to creating exciting concerts that get people talking. An exciting and dynamic new breed of pop band.

don't even mention it! it was a great night, although i had my doubts about the shifty looking band after you, they were so much fun too! :) best time! hopefully july 30th will be even better. :)
Hey guys! I think I'm going to be at the Ruby's gig rather than the Toff in Town (i wanna be culturally expositioned though...) Its because ill be working out in Pakenham and would be heaps easier to get to! Nice run of gigs... -Press Colour/hamish
I'd hate to leave a typical "thanks for the add" when being atypical has far more charm. I'm offering my recession special. Actually it's regardless of the economic climate. Free music rocks so if you feel inclined- come to my page where you can download "You Shoulda" for free!
Well, the ep is forming...we are trying to get it all done for a low cost whilst sounding amazing! (ha) not sure if surfin' movie is going to be on there yet...its only an instrumental at the moment. it might make a come back on a future project we have in mind...ill try to get some of the other guys to come down on the 1st -PC/hamish
Hey guys, just checked out your video entitled "positive mystery tour". It was so funny! Im going to be there on the 1st...is the name 'cultural exposition' your brand or is it a theme night at the toff? The acoustic video of liars everywhere is sweet...keep up the good tunes! -Press Colour/hamish

I'm alright, how are you guys?? Yeah, I'm really sorry about that. I was looking forward to coming but crashed at about 5 and didn't wake up again for ages haha. Withdrawl from energy drinks I spose.
Promise to make it to at least one of the next three though. Uni shit will be over soon so fingers crossed for July 1st.
Guys, the new layout is great! I'm impressed. One day we will do the same...! And the new track sounds good. Did you do it at home or in a studio? Im going to try and get down to one of your upcoming gigs. -Press Colour/hamish
