New wave, electronic like Morr Music or early Warp, post rock... somebody said This Heat and Tortoise, someone else The Cure, Tuxedomoon or Piano Magic, maybe Labradford...
We like also experimental musics like Trapist, MB, Tasaday, Punck, 3/4HadBeenEliminated, Logoplasm, Fhievel, Luca Sigurta', Andrea Marutti, aal, Madame P. and other friends...
Sparkle in Grey have been playing together since 2006, when founder member Matteo “Hue” Uggeri (who also has a solo electronic music project by the same name) was joined by poli-instrumentalist Cristiano Lupo (member of Norm), Alberto Carozzi (former member of Yakudoshi) – guitar and bass - and violin player Franz Krostopovic (of Pulp-ito).
Their lastest album (A Quiet Place) is the corner-stone of a collaboration between people who don't necessarily share similar music tastes, but who share a similar taste for human relations. The music in this record evokes a heartening place to visit and to cherish.
Sparkle in Grey do not sing, do not dance in public, do not have lyrics to hang up on teenage bedroom walls. This could be due to their passion for Kaurismaki's cigarettes, for Robert Smith's hair-style, for certain sounds in so-called experimental records that may well result from mixing mess-ups, for Piano Magic's totemic stage presence; but as much as they might not appeal to 15 – year olds they are, after all, the over-grown, boy-band version of Tuxedomoon.

"A free flowing entanglement of Morricone-esque soundtrack modes, jazz elements and micro-sound approaches. Recommended if your tastes in music are eclectic." NORMANRECORDS (Mingus Who)
“A new positive energy [...] that brings to a romantic circularity in a Durutti Column style, and that afterwards explodes in a free emotional cascade." BLOW UP (Paolo Bertoni)
“The deep bass lines and the classic violin have something in common with Reininger & Co. [Tuxedomoon], but this doesn't mean that they copy, because Sparkle in Grey are already showing their own personality and poetic.” RUMORE (Vittore Baroni)
“A mixture of electronic and post-rock, where acoustic instruments meet very well with the noise of electronic instruments" BATTITI/RADIO 3 (Nicola Catalano)
“Between shapeless junks you can feel emerging lyric moments that will hold your breath." ROCKERILLA (Roberto Mandolini)
"One of the best experimental post-rock records of the last months... A Quiet Place: more and more and more." MUCCHIO (Giovanni Linke)

"blending low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . [it's] warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" (Zero Tolerance magazine).
