I am not alone at all, I thought. I was never alone at all. And that, of course, is the message of Christmas. We are never alone. Not when the night is darkest, the wind coldest, the word seemingly most indifferent. For this is still the time God chooses.
~ Taylor Caldwell~
May the gifts of hope, peace, and joy be yours this Christmas, and in the comming new year.

Merry had a little Christmas,
It's snow as white as fleece...
And everywhere that Santa went
his SACK was full of crease/s
as well as chicken skin and
gray hairs and Santa's wife
only knows what else!
Very Merry!!!!!
soon...

Dear Marc, another year is gone. Thanks for the affection and for never forgotten to feed our friendship with your comments: images, music and thoughts that so many times, made all the difference. The tree of Space grows every second and with it, our circle of friends.
I' d like to send a personalized message to each of you, because, gradually, we perceive a few of the essence of each one, this wonderful diversity that we track. But as I say, the reading may be the same, but the journey is individual. That is what matters, the value of being unique.
Christmas is coming, with it feelings of love, solidarity and companionship intensify. What makes me happy is that surely we will not stop here, for behold, I do not know if motivated by ecological awareness, by the example of Bhutan with its index of happiness and many others, we are learning to love others no date or appointment. It's a continuous exercise, a learning, a evolution.
Let us be the generation of love, today and always!
Claudia.

Hello Marc Meiser,
The theme of "Capriccio" by Richard Strauss, which is subtitled "A Conversation Piece for Music", can be summarized as "Which is more important: words or music?" This question is dramatized in the story of a Countess torn between two suitors: Olivier, a poet, and Flamand, a composer.
In this final scene the Countess learns that both Olivier and Flamand will meet her in the library to learn the ending of the opera. Still undecided, she consults her image in the mirror for a decision. The major-domo announces that "Dinner is served", as the opera ends.
All my best,
michael

Hello Marc Meiser,
Each of the 14 separate fugues in the "Art of the Fugue" is based on the same short melody. It appears as if Bach is obsessed with how many ways he can create a fugue using the same tune.
It is also interesting that no particular instrumentation is specified. This music can be played by any combination of instruments. It seems that Bach has written The Art of the Fugue as an intellectual exercise, yet one that sets the very highest musical standards for what a fugue can be.
Music:
Art of the Fugue – 9
Composer:
J.S. Bach
Performers:
The Emerson String Quartet
All my best,
michael

Hello Marc Meiser,
"Vocalise", from 1912, contains no words, but is sung using any one vowel of the singer's choosing. Rachmaninoff was the last great representative of late Russian Romanticism.
Music:
"Vocalise" Op.34, No.14
Composer:
Sergei Rachmaninoff
Performers:
Kiri Te Kanawa – soprano
All my best,
michael
