The Final Year students in the Sound Training Centre have put together a charity album with all the proceeds going to “Aware", an organistion that provides support and awareness programs for people suffering with depression. The concept and general theme of the album is “Songs That Inspire”. The album comprises of contemporary Irish artists covering influential musicians and songwriters that gave them the initial spark to start a band. The album is entitled “Sparks n’ Mind,” as it deals with themes of personal and creative growth, hope and guidance, which we feel are relevant to the themes “Aware” deals with, in helping people suffering from depression.
The artists involved with the album range from the cutting edge of the Irish Indie scene to the some the most established acts in the country. The album includes big selling Irish artists like Bell X1, Mick Pyro (Republic of Loose), Lisa Hannigan and Damien Dempsey to up and coming alternative acts like Dirty Epics, Ham Sandwich and LeGalaxie to name but a few.
Many of the bands will be recorded in Temple Lane Recording Studios, state of the art Apollo studio, by the Sound Training Centre final year students. The release date is set for the 12th of June.
Greetings to you, our kind friends from Ireland. As some of you may be aware, we had intended to visit your fine and verdant home this very winter, in the deep cold heart of December. Unfortunately, due to circumstance, (that surly old bugbear), we will not be able to make it. Do not fear, no need to rend your hair in agony or take to the streets in mournful procession. This is merely a postponement of our inevitable arrival, as foretold by scholars and mystics of old. This band of rough hewn and unknown balladeers from out the concrete wilds of Boise, Idaho will make joyous landfall in the relatively near(ish) future. In the mean time, we will wrap ourselves in blankets and begin recording our new album, to be released this spring.
