We’re a group of friends from south Liverpool, who came together one summer’s evening to keep ourselves immersed in music following the demise of our respective bands. From our first session together, exploring the musical styles that had influenced and formed us, we began writing songs together. After several months honing and developing our music in alcohol fuelled acoustic sessions, we decided to call ourselves Sparkwood&21 and get out and see what people thought.
‘Music so beautiful, you’ll be weeping into your shoes’
Americana UK CD Review
‘It’s a rare thing when you come across an EP that is so sublime, so addictively wonderful, that you end up listening to it over and over again. This is one of them’
Whisperin&Hollerin CD Review
‘luscious harmony-driven melodies, lilting mandolins and energetically warm tunes, all thrown together to create a beautiful, heart-warming racket. I’d certainly recommend going to see Sparkwood&21 if you get the chance…a wicked new band worth keeping an eye on.’
Whisperin and Hollerin, Gig review
‘Sparkwood&21 are a gloriously life affirming live experience and one that is well worth catching’
Americana UK
This month we have Regina Spektor with the theme to the film Prince Caspian (but don’t let that put you off, it is really rather wonderful), Mermaid Skeletons with a great song that’s worth it for the chorus alone, the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, who are as good as their name if not more so and finally the legendary Chip Taylor with the thought-provoking Former American Soldier. Great listening, and if you like the tracks, buy the albums!

KINGS HEAD PUB, SANTA MONICA, PEOPLE!!! REAL LIVERPUDLIANS GO THERE. ;)
i was about to message you. cheers, it was a great night. i've already been recommending you to mates.
i'll try and get some footage from sat up next week. it was a pain in the arse having to take the sound off the speakers but i've watched your performance back and it's not too bad. in any case, i plan to put good stuff online even if it doesn't wind up in the film so i'll send word as and when and where you can find it...
we'll sort out an interview set-up soon then film a set when the weather gets better. i was thinking a campfire scenario might suit the songs. let me know what you think. as i say, i like the idea of getting outside in the folky tradition.
okay, speak soon. and give us a shout if you've anything on worth aiming a camera at, whether gigging, recording, whatever.
Thanks for the friendship - hope you'll visit and listen to the 6 bands new on my player and I hope your friends take the time to add me and support Scouse music
