A painter with words on a canvas of melody, Brian Speaker is a colorful Indie artist blending acoustic, Americana, pop rock and folk. With influences like the Beatles, Wilco, Elliott Smith and Beck, his focus is directed toward creative and poetic songwriting.
Born and raised in Indiana, Brian Speaker picked up the guitar at an early age and has been writing ever since. He's performed with several bands and on Broadway, as well as traveled the country as a singer in various musical tours. Arriving in NY for a three month sublet, Brian quickly found a home and has been embraced by the city for more then a decade. "I express myself best with my guitar. Its like having your heart in your hands and getting to pound on it."
Brian lent his voice to the movie/musical 'Across the Universe', featuring The Beatles song book with performances by Bono and Joe Cocker which opened September 21, 2007 (learn more at www.imdb.com). He's also been included in the new Grand Theft Auto video game series as numerous voices, the most recent IV being released in the spring of 2008. Three songs from his first record, Revolution of One, aired in a television series. The Ride, Poison and Sunkiss were featured songs in the show Dr. G Medical Examiner on the Discovery Health Channel.
Brian Speaker's music is a melody driven blend of his influences. He has a poetic sensibility with his lyrics and a uniquely soulful voice. Brian released his second album, Off This Planet in the fall of 2007.
A regular in the NYC open mic scene, Brian has played gigs at The Bitter End, The Knitting Factory, CBGB's & Sidewalk Cafe. Performing solo and occasionally with a band, he can be heard in some of the best rooms New York City has to offer.
Off This Planet & Revolution of One CD's available at cdbaby and itunes. You can learn more about Brian Speaker at www.brianspeaker.com.
Meta“Metaphor for life” indeed my cuz! Just listened to “The Bird Live”, great timing on the great advice! Keep the music coming B. Speak! Always thinking of ya! -B-dee
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be “the Bird”, but our kind, giving, “Golden Rule” following upbringing just won’t let me! I guess I'll just eat the birdsh*t and learn not to “wear that sh*t around all day”!!! Peace
Thanks for re adding Tubes Brian. Your music is very artistic and it super fantastic. It's sound 3d live right in your face and, so many people come to mind when I listen.. The Beatles.. maybe Tears for fears.. and others... I am going to spin the tunes in the player above and read some more hear on site. You keep up the great work. Cheers Tubes
