Speech Therapy: A History
Established in November 2005, Speech Therapy aims to publish poetry that will promote the talents of new and established writers from the North of Ireland. It iss envisoned that the magazine be used as a platform for writers to allow their work to reach the wider audience that it merits. Speech Therapy seeks poetry that is clear in its purpose and non-abstract in meaning; poetry that has been formed from all walks of life; poetry that projects a voice.
Welcoming poetry from people just starting on their pathway to becoming published poets, I felt that it is important to provide a platform of expression to emerging talent, as well as concentrating on displaying unique and powerful poetry. Therefore, we welcome first time writers as well as more experienced poets.
It doesn''t matter to us if you had won a major award, or had been recently published elsewhere. We only care about giving a voice to top quality poetry, work that will be appreciated by our readers. If it's clever, unique, emotive and evoking, we want to publish it!
After four issues of fine writing, Speech Therapy went on now hiatus. But BREAKING NEWS- we have now reopened, and are gearing towards a new issue1 See our blog for more details.
