Rev. Speedbump Its November, for crying out loud; I'm in shorts and a tee. We had a cold snap, I winterized the trailer, and now look. Things have been busy, and interesti Posted at 6:11 PM Nov 7 view more
About me:
First, I became "Speedbump" after a fellow turned left in front of me while I was on my motorcycle. I "threw" my bike at him, but he managed to get around it and run over me (literally). Such drama! What I want to do is get back on my bike, but the future remains to be seen.
As a former EMT, then RN, in both cases working in some of the worst places imaginable, I have seen much suffering. Other than providing the basics (food, clothing, shelter and medical care) I haven't seen much success in alleviating suffering without God. So, while I no longer practice those professions, I continue along the same path.
I am a Minister of Evangelism for the Celtic Communion of Christ, a body that is "gettin back ta basics" by reaching back into the rich heritage of the Celtic Churches. It seems funny to hear myself called "Reverend", because I didn't actually flunk the piety class...I was physically thrown from the building. I guess that is good practice for an evangelist. :-)
I am a member of a Lutheran Church, where, every Sunday, traditional and contemporary services are held simultaneously. Yeah, you'll find me mostly in the contemporary services. I can be found many Sunday afternoons cooking for our outreach dinner, which follows our outreach service called "Come Alive". I can also be found on the sidewalk, reaching out to the homeless (especially when winter ends and they move back here from Phoenix). A couple of Thursday morning a month, I take care of preschoolers so that their Moms can get a break and some fellowship (around 100 moms usually attend, so it can can get rockin downstairs).
Who I'd like to meet: The minute that I state who I would like to meet, I preclude all of the others. It occurs to me that there is practically no one who I would not like to meet. I am an old psych nurse, so I even like meeting people who others might not appreciate.
I have friends that are not Christians; well, I wasn't, either, once. I can still appreciate their intellects and good hearts. I always pray for them.
I enjoy and respect the biker community, and I will tag along, even if I must do so in my "cage"(automobile, for the uninitiated).
I am very fortunate to be meeting some of my Celtic brothers and sisters; I am learning much about myself from them.
I am thankful everyday~for my job~my friends & family~&~all that God has blessed me with!~I pray your day is full of laughter, good memories, friendship & family! Sending love & hugs!
Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God. ~Ray Stannard Baker (David Grayson)
O Lord that lends me life, Lend me a heart replete with thankfulness. ~William Shakespeare
Psalm 75 1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. 2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. 3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. 4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. 8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. 9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

EVERLASTING FLOWERS Luke 8, versus 11 - 15 In the garden of your life, you choose the path you take, Jesus Christ, your Saviour's hand holds the weeding rake. Just let Him lead you daily along His lighted path, Steadily along life's ways, He'll guide you with His staff. If you choose the HARD path, you're not in the garden at all, Please open your ears and heart to the Saviour's call. Don't take the STONY ground, Jesus never promised us a life of ease. He knows its never easy not to do just as you please. Your bound to hit some THORNY patches as your garden starts to grow, Just confess your failures to Him, His love He wants you to know. Then from the GOOD soil, you will be, all fertilized with Himself, You will be a prize bloom shining, not some seeds left on the shelf. For when you bloom and grow, with God's rising sap of love, The seeds of life will scatter with a never-ending source of love
Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
There will be days~when the clouds cover the sun~when tears run across a smile~when walking feels like a marathon run~just remember you are not alone~life tastes sweeter when you have had the bitter~so when you feel like you hit a wall~open the window & know that I am here & care about you! I wish you much joy on this Sunday~
The problem with this type of mentality is that many people that use it say that the Holy Spirit inspired them to say something that is entirely contradictory to Scripture. The Holy Spirit isn't going to say one thing, then come back later and say, "My bad, guys..."
