I have been djing now for 9 years from scratch. I started in my bedroom of course, then started to go out on the clubbing scene only to find a whole new out look on spinning tunes. From that day all I wanted to do is be a successful DJ. It wasn’t easy for me in Brum as I was born and breed in Crawley, West Sussex and the slightly cockney accent didn’t go down to well with the locals, but after heavy, heavy pressure and lots of phone calls, I was given the chance to prove myself at a bar called Hadleys, which played Speed Garage and Classic House Anthems. This was right up my street, so for 2 years I was a resident every Saturday and Sunday. After it had closed down I then became a resident at peppers which was an after hours breakfast bar, this place was rammed every week without fail which then started me getting noticed. Again this lasted for about 2 years until it got raided for being an illegal rave, little did we know!!!! Moving on from this I started to play some 2 step with the speed garage, this started me getting bookings for garage events etc. If I were to mention all the little events I played at over the years then you would get bored. There was one booking that started my whole career as a DJ. This booking was for the local pirate station in Birmingham called SILK CITY 106.8 fm. Don’t like to say myself, but I smashed the place apart, therefore being asked by the manager of the station if ive ever done radio before and would I like to do it, My answer being yes got me straight in there. They started me on a graveyard shift 11-1 am every Thursday. Because garage at that time was main stream music on Silk I was bound to be getting a late set, the music I was playing was completely different aswell, so it was a bit of a hit and miss show and I had a thing about mc`s chatting over me. Anyway more to the point now I have 3 shows all prime time and the stations profile has grown big time!!!! We have 1000`s and 1000`s of listeners, at the end of my show I have approx 150-180 unread text messages with of course 100`s that have already been reed out. Not bad for a pirate station…… I have been part of the Silk Family for just under 5 years now and in the year of 2003 I won best DJ and best show of the year award on Silk City, this was a phone in people’s choice award and was presented infront of 2,500 people live on stage at the Dome Night Club Boxing night. Again I won this award in 2004 & 2005 making me a multi award winner. These are big achievements as I also won a national award for best Organ House Dj 2005. This makes me very proud to be a dj and i hope to retain all these awards again this year! I run my own very successful record label, i also run several events and nights in and around the city and I`m getting a lot of out of town bookings also in europe like Sheffield, Bradford, Derby, Leeds, Ibiza and Costa Del Sol . I also produce my own music for my label and remix for others. At the end of the day, if you can put a smile on a face and make someone dance, that is the best natural feeling in the world and as long as i keep on doing this i will keep on djing.........
