20-year veteran of the Austin, Texas Music scene. SpeedLimit (aka: Marvin Gershowitz) has played virtually all of the major venues in Austin, Texas between 1980 - 2003. A well know secret among industry regulars of the area, SpeedLimit and his various bands have averaged more weekly gigs than most of the publicized bands over the same period. After repeated encouragement by nationally known artists from the Austin Community, SpeedLimit has hit the road as many well known Texas musicians have in order to create their national presence. Like the blues and country players whose regional roots were strongly attached, SpeedLimit comes like a different wild wind both familiar and unusually memorable at the same time. Marvin (aka: SpeedLimit) is a timeless artist with no limits for a listener demanding something new and something old in order to create something special and different!

The long and short is in 1977 I saw the 'Sex Pistols' and tried to start a band with people who did not play or have instruments. I named everyone in the band and I became 'SpeedLimit'. In some way or other I have been this person to 10's of thousands of people who have had contact with me nearly 30 years since. I get cranked when I'm stage. I spent all my life trying to be what I am which is just as much as discovery and journey as is traveling to the moon. I love all music, but obviously my roots are in rock, blues, jazz, and pop. Most of the time you will see me as a solo artist, but "SpeedLimit & The Violations", began in Austin Texas where I have played during nearly the entirety of my career. I hope you will enjoy some of the material here and I'll update to keep some fresh news and mp3.

I know it is confusing but no one has technically been chosen yet for any catagories... that is why we need everyone to vote... You have several catagories to nominate Acoustic Minds in and if you like you can even nominate other bands, it is really up to you the public to decide...
