The seed that was to become Speirling was planted in the mind of Blaidd around the year of 2003, but remained hidden and undeveloped, due to other commitments, until late 2006 when it finally had room to grow. The premise has always been that Britain, once forerunners in the world of heavy metal, has offered such little in the way of real, quality black metal, and that these inspirational Isles could, and should produce something to challenge the world.
After initial preparations, Blaidd formed an alliance with drummer Nechtan in order to visualise the coming storm. Rehearsals and rough recordings paved the way for the recording of the first album "The Piper" in 2007. Entirely self-produced, "The Piper" realises the importance of uniqueness in all realms. By remaining in control, Speirling were able to create something with heart and soul.
"The Piper", a concept album, re-tells the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Within this literary vessel the spiritual outlook and essence of Speirling is contained. Musically, influences are vast but never over-emphasized. Speirling sounds unlike any, but simultaneously represents the greatest sum of many.
Speirling is not a live act and will focus exclusively on recorded output.
