"...one of the things SPEkTR reminds me of is Film-Library music, particulary from the 60's and 70's, english and italian, y'know..Roy Budd and Nino Rota and all of these great Film composers..."
- David Fricke (senior editor Rolling Stone magazine)
"Screaming tv-screens, blazing in heavenly technicolor,
under an enormous sunset accompanied by an morriconesque girls choir,
while bass, drums and guitar groove to the beat of a static now.
Disharmonic string sections, bows on cymbals, jittery harpsichords,
clustered timpanies and tubular bells eerily chime.
Cobweb like circuitbends and microsynths meshed in
tapemanipulated dusty retro drummachines whith handclaps and a worn hammond-organ"
THE SURF NEVER BREAKS ON A WAVE OF WHITE NOISE!
A NOW soundtrack for THEN
MANOJ RAMDAS, former guitarist of THE RAVEONETTES and his associates,
collectively named SPEkTR, are emerging with a new album titled,
'B/W vs. TECHNICOLOR'
Recorded in Denmark and the States, in the vein of 'the lost art of soundtrack composing' and the ubercool music from then, SPEkTR have written a pastiche-album.
A 'Retro-nu-Soundtrack'.
Containing original material, composed and produced by the band,
inspired by the likes of Herrmann, Mancini, Goldsmith, Morricone and performed with today's rock'n'roll attitude and antics.
The various band constellations hold: guitars, bass, drums, percussion, organs, synths and sampler + additional string-sections, brass ensembles, classical percussionists, girl choirs and various other electronic gadgets.
SPEkTR have toured Scandinavia and Europe extensively since 2001 and will be going on the road again soon!
