Interests

  • General

I'm in to all kinds of stuff - from music, to gaming, to role-playing, to tinkering with computer hardware, networking, and web design and development. Most of the stuff I work on is horror or gothic themed in one way or another.
  • Music

I like pretty much anything but country. However I favor dark soundtracks and electronica. Lets see - Billy Idol, Chemical Brothers, Collide, Crystal Method, Danzig, Depeche Mode, Evanescence, Faith No More, Fatboy Slim, Garbage, Gossamer, Greenday, HIM, Linkin Park, Marcy Playground, Marilyn Manson, Megadeth, Metallica (classic not the new crap), Midnight Syndicate, Nickelback, Nimf, Nox Arcana, Portis Head, Propellerheads, Red Delicious - just to name a few...
  • Movies

Science fiction, horror, action adventure, comedy, psychological thrillers, or any combination of those. While I do like a decent remake from time to time, I'm usually pretty old school with movies so I prefer the original Dawn of the Dead over the new one and original Star Wars trilogy opposed to the prequels. I used to work in a theater when I was younger and had privy to a lot of films before they hit the streets. If I could have made a decent living I would still be in the industry. Alas I have to provide for my family and am drowning in the American way which makes me too busy to get out and see a decent film.

Favorites are: The Resurrected (best Lovecraft adaptation hands down), the entire original dead series (night, dawn, and day), Army of Darkness, Dracula (the classic and the Copola version), The Mummy, Stargate, classic Star Wars (before the butchering in the DVD set), Alien, Aliens, Office Space, Seven, Dogma.... God there's tons more - I used to be such a movie whore.

  • Television

Don't do too much tube man - it's evil and most of the shows are total crap - especial reality shows (ick)!

I like to surf over to The History Channel for some of their more esoteric specials. And of course there's the handful of anime I like to watch which includes: Naruto (although still prefer the fan sub), Bleach, and Trinity Blood. I'm pretty picky with anime and usually only watch stuff that's dark, slow, and plot driven such as Wolf's Rain and Cowboy Beebop. I prefer serials as opposed to self contained episodes(which is why Heroes appealed to me).

  • Books

Huge Lovecraftian fan... Have about 95% of his works... I do read other horror authors but rarely anything outside of stuff found in anthology collections. King is good but overrated. On the fantasy side I love stuff by Eddings and Piers Anthony.

Unfortunately I don't get much time to read these days as I used to when I was young.

  • Heroes

Superheroes aren't what they used to be. What happened? It's like saving the world is a huge hassle or something? No one wants to take charge anymore and there's just lots of finger pointing and "he said she siad". Not to mention vests to stop speeding bullets, elevators for tall buildings and villains running amuck (insert evil laugh here).

Networking

  • Mostly hobby - finished one cd which is more trance than anything else. Done a few small tracks for my game Shadow of the Necromancer. Would love to get more involved in larger projects.

  • Again, more hobby. Love working on horror adventures and role-play games. Would love an opportunity to get my foot in the doors of the industry.

  • I do a lot of different things in this field - from web design, programming, networking, servers, hardware, and even down in the trenches doing desktop support. Jack of all trades...

About me:

Well, I'm just an average joe who likes Halloween, horror, anime, gaming, movies and music. I like chillin with my friends and acting the fool whenever the opportunity permits itself. I value my friends greatly and all are second only to family. I would say one of my best qualities is I'm a good listener. I'm always willing to lend an ear for those with problems or just looking for someone to talk at and vent some frustration. I don't always have the answers or the right advice if any at all. But I find that a lot of times people just want someone to hear their side - and thats what I do best.

I've been going by the name Spellbreaker oh since around about the time the game of the same name came out back in 1985 (yeah my age is showing). Spellbreaker is part three in the Enchanter series which was a spinoff of the classic Zork trilogy (old school text adventures for you youngsters - predates even MUDs). Since then it's often been affectionately shortened to just Spelly within my circle of online friends.

I have a background in music, art, and nearly all things computer related. I'm old-school and was actually arround during the age of BBS' in their heyday.

Who I'd like to meet:

Lookin to meet new people who share similar interests and passion for Halloween, horror, gaming, or computers. Also lookin to hookup with old friends from the homelands of New Orleans, from school and the old gang.

Or drop me a line on AIM at Spellbreaker2001
