THE YEAR WAS 1955, AND ROCK N ROLL WAS BORN IN SUN STUDIOS. SAM PHILLIPS WAS ONTO SOMTHING WHEN HE REALIZED THAT THE BLACK MAN'S BLUES WAS MUSIC THAT SHOULD BE HEARD THROUGH OUT THE WORLD. WELL, WITH THE HELP OF A GIBSON GUITAR AND A FENDER AMP WE HAVE GONE THROUGH EACH DECADE TO BRING A NEW RANGE OF INFLUENCES MIXED WITH A WHOLE NEW SET OF FEARS SOCIETY WILL PLACE ON SOMTHING THE MASSES DO NOT UNDERSTAND. WHETHER IT BE SIXTIES PSYCHADELIC TO SEVENTIES EGO ARENA ROCK TO ALL IN THE EIGHTIES THAT WAS SHRED UNTIL THE NINTIES OPENED UP SOUND AND THE HIDDEN SECRET OF MULTI COLORED VINYL TO THE DEATH OF A CENTURY WHICH HAS PLACED US ON THE DEFENSIVE IN THE RADICAL ROCK REVOLUTION.

MUSIC FOR THE ENDTIMES
Going to a SPELL MERCHANTS show is very much like going out to the ocean. No matter how many times you have experienced the serendipity, once you are there, what your witnessing is new and different, thus proving that to escape the MACHINEGASM you have to get to DIFFERENT GROUND.
As you sit upon your favorite rock, drinking that cold Lagunitas, and staring out at the water, you soon realize that every wave sings a song to itself. While some sway to a slow trance, hypnotizing you to reach up and grab the SKYDIVER, if not careful, your search for INDEPENDENCE can lead you to DROWN.
The faster waves can be the catalyst to offset the BURNING PLANET and those are truly a sight to behold. Coming at you with power and might, crashing down upon the rocks in a furious rage, withdrawing only to hammer relentlessly again; for ON THIS NIGHT by the BATTLE AXE and enduring RED TIDE, it is here WE LEARN TO LIVE.
SPELL MERCHANTS have been playing their brand of Rock N Roll for more than four years now. Very rarely do you find a band that is both melodic and aggressive while swinging like the best of the Delta blues with the virtuousness of classical music. Within these anthems, whether it is an instrumental or a song with emotional, soulful vocals (they perform both styles consistently) you can find layered influences of many different artists. From the progressiveness of Rush to the eccentricity of Frank Zappa teaming up with the chording of Tom Petty, and the deliverance of Pantera. This is a band that studied the Rock N Roll (theres that word again) handbook very carefully.
SPELL MERCHANTS have released an album FIRST IMPRESSION and a new ep TALES FROM THE MERCHANT LAIR VOL . I. They perform through out California and reside in Sonoma.
