Spell Mississipi is a combination of Rock, Punk and Grunge, or Grunge Punk as we've been called. Our influences are mainly:- Metallica, Nirvana, Rancid, Sex Pistols and lots of other bands. Spell Mississipi started out as a 3 piece in the summer of 2003, with, Tom, Sam an Joe. After a few months or so they came across drummer Richard. They started practicing in Ruckinge village hall but still didnt have a vocalist as everyone was too shy to sing. Eventually Tom left the band and joined Sikhona, who are a successful local band. After a while of practising with just drums, bass and guitar they found a vocalist, Ben in october 2004. They knew he was right for the band as at his first practice he was so confident and had a great voice that sounded good with their music. In summer 2006, Richard the drummer left and they recruited Steve Peverley (ex Big Wednesday). Steve provides the solid beat and flawless rythms which adds the finishing touches to Spell Mississipi's unique sound. The band started writing their own songs and now have 2 demo CD's. The band has gone through a crazy transformation over the last 2 years and are now fucking amazing if they do say so themselves, which they do!
