DO NOT! I REPEAT! DO NOT EVER! EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER, go eat at Chico's Tacos. Trust me, your experience of visiting El Paso will be complete just by driving by a Chico's. I warn you to you NEVER eat there, as Chico's Tacos might actually end up killing you. And if you don't die from the experience then you'll wish you had.
I'm sorry but as an outsider who has lived here for 7 years, Chico's was is and will ALWAYS be the absolutely, most disgusting food I've ever eaten. I don't come from high class neither do I have a a "high class pallet". I love eating cheap dirty food but Chico's is an extreme that should never be experienced by anyone not born in this city.
It must be in your blood because it's just plain nasty. Though I did have a very good coke there one time.
If you're coming through El Paso and someone suggests taking you to Chico's Tacos, politely decline. It'll be the best decision you've ever made.
With respectful apologies to those who will refuse to believe that a dining experience can qualify as 'entertainment,' I will say that I'm not sure that one should categorize the consumption of coffee and beignets at the Cafe du Monde in New Orleans as a dining experience. Even if you hate chicory coffee and overly sweet pastries, you must eat at the Cafe du Monde when you visit New Orleans. If you haven't spilled powdered sugar on yourself while watching a juggler and listening to a street saxophonist, then I'm afraid your trip to the Big Easy was incomplete. And if you go to El Paso without eating at Chico's Tacos at least once, I fear you will have missed the point of your visit entirely.
There are some extraordinary myths concerning the sauce that drenches an order of Chico's Tacos. Everyone in El Paso swears that the sauce is a cure for a hangover (even though El Pasoans know that menudo is the real cure for a hangover); and everyone claims to know someone who completely dissolved a penny in the sauce back in junior high school.
I suspect that we associate Chico's Tacos with hangovers because it is somehow impossible to get drunk in El Paso without winding up at one of the four Chico's Tacos locations in the city and allowing the chunks of tortilla and cheese to soak up the alcohol in one's stomach. As for whether the sauce can actually dissolve a penny, all I can say from first hand experience is that it's better than Brasso for making the grimiest coins look shiny and new. The tacos are served in little paper cartons that leak. The sauce served with thousands of orders of tacos has actually dissolved little troughs into the tables in the restaurant. The ruts in the laminated tables are where you are supposed to put your order of tacos; it's good manners in a Chico's Tacos to contribute the acidity of one's meal to the development of pre-existing table divots. Don't go starting your own projec
if only i would have know of this sooner, thanks for this. Ive been down for the pumpkins since i was a little kid. Does anyone know where i can get the vinyls, trying to get the collection
Hey!! What's Up? I'll be moving to El Paso in a couple of months, and it's fucking great to see there are some Pumpkins fans around there. I've never seen the Pumpkins live (for I am a new fan) so, I really expect to see'em in this new tour. I hope they come to Houston or Dallas at least, since I don't think they'll come to El Paso. It would be pretty amazing though.
By the way, thanks for acepting my request. Check out myspace sometime. I've got a lot of cool Pumpkins live videos in my video player.

(another one of those messages that I repost here):
A few days ago I suggested the possibility we set up a MySpace group to be used as a discussion forum.
What I've just done is created a smaller, Portland-only group. We'll use it for discussion among members of the group . . . But its bigger function is to serve as somewhat of a trial for a larger, group-wide discussion forum.
After it goes awhile I'll report off to y'all how it goes, whether it invites a chorus of crickets or whether it lubes up our togetherness like K-Y.
We've only got *ahrm* twenty-two Portland/surrounding area residents for the page, so I'll be sure to take that into consideration when reporting the virtue of said venture ;)
Hello El Paso SP fans, I hope that you are all doing great :)
We recently posted a blog where Steven proposed the idea of a SP fan video documentary, which would involve fans from each group documenting their SP fan meetups. It goes without saying that we would not everyone's help on this. Please visit our blog and tell us what you think. If you could repost the info as a bulletin or blog, that would be fantastic :)
I posted this as a bulletin but I'll post it here as well:
WHAT do you guys think of the possibility of starting a MySpace GROUP, with our City/Country logins as members, so we could get a threaded message board going? It would be easier to collaborate ideas this way rather than replying to bulletins.
This way ideas, comments, and replies could be seen by EVERYONE, organized into topics. Yeah?
If there's already such a thing going and I'm not aware of it, tell me! But I think this could really smooth the dynamics of our communication. Sure we've got competitions for contests but we're really all in this together.
