  • Books

    I tend to favor non-fiction, and my absolute favorite authors are Joan Didion and Bob Woodward. Didion is an amazing wordsmith, and Woodward is simply a fantastic relayer of events. When I was in high school I got to pick the books I read rather than being assigned books, and at the time I was obsessed with Greek, Roman and Egyptian history and mythology, so that's all I read. So here I am 22 years old and I haven't read many of the "standards." I'm on a quest to make up for that and so far my favorites from this little mission have been "To Kill a Mockingbird," "The Great Gatsby," "Fahrenheit 451" and "Catcher in the Rye" - in that order. One of my favorite memoirs (after Didion's "The Year of Magical Thinking") is Anderson Cooper's "Dispatches from the Edge." A fantastic read.

::BIO::

I was born on a house boat off the coast of Jamaica. I ran away at age 3 and joined a traveling circus -- only, they were outlawed in Jamaica two months into my career, so we had to go underground. During the 5 years I was in this underground traveling circus -- "The Amazing Doraungas," we were called -- I became quite proficient in the art of mashed potato sculpting. I was the best mashed potato sculpter in the tri-state area and my ego took control. I abandoned the underground traveling circus to tour Europe, competing with all the most-talented mashed potato sculpters and taking the top prize in every match. But you know what they say, it's lonely at the top. I moved to Australia to live among the Koalas in isolation physically as I had been emotionally for so long.
