Spicy Roots were founded in 1994 in Schwieberdingen near Stuttgart. The Ska of these at that time 17 to 18 years old boys, developed from a big group of friends, in which everybody identified himself with this music style. Endless party nights with Judge Dread, Laurel Aitken, Mr. Review, etc. stood in highest place. .... In 1997 Spicy Roots recorded the first mini CD with 6 titles (“Export”), which was published under the label SOS records. After another 4 exciting years 2001 the first complete album “One More” was published. 12 Songs, melodic and with matured interaction, Spicy Roots carried a further milestone into public. The new record showed up as full success. "Ska Fever", “Coconut”, “Do you know”, “One more”, “Love like music”, “Tin Tin..s bar” are only some in the meantime legendary Songs from this time. With publication of the record 2001 came gigs in complete Germany, e.g. the Easter Ska Jam, and in the subsequent years they could collect also international experience, as e.g. on the Surffestival in the Italian Torbole. After the release of their album "get ready" they played a lot of concerts around germany and abroad. In 2007 they were touring around europe and in 2008 they did their first tour throughout japan. The next step in 2010 is the release of their new album "just in time". 12 songs with an ska-evergreen character. .. new song "just a man" - live in japan .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -

Die Formation des ehemaligen Frontmanns der SOLEDAD BROTHERS aus Detroit, die es im Sog des Erfolgs der WHITE STRIPES und DIRTBOMBS zu einem Majorlabel-Deal brachten, ist seit dem letztjährigen Besuch bei uns um ein viertes "Gang-Mitglied" angewachsen: Mit dabei ist jetzt zusätzlich der Keyboarder John Wesley Myers von den BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES, die letztes Jahr bei ihrem Gig in Stuttgart vollkommen verdientermaßen abgefeiert wurden! Dabei gehen karger Delta-Blues, traditioneller Rhythm'n'Blues und der scharfe "Southern-Soul-Groove" von Stax Records eine wilde Ehe mit zerschossenem Garage-Rock'n'Roll und dem dazugehörigen Punk-Spirit ein und "BO DIDDLEY trifft auf die JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION" - alles in allem eine wahrlich famose Band, die mal eben auf extrem unterhaltsame und mitreißende Art und Weise mindestens 40 Jahre Musikgeschichte aufarbeitet und deren Platten daher wahrlich zurecht beim tollen deutschen Label Stag-O-Lee erscheinen!

sorry 'Just in time' is brilliant and gets better with every play! Favourite tracks so far 'Conquerors Time' (both versions), 'Today' (which could have been called 'About Time') 'Stuck Together', 'Rythm King' 'Just a man' and 'Heroes' but to be honest they're all really great songs. The fast forward button is well and truly safe. It seems that 'Johnny' has been busy...:o) Looking forward to touring the Just About In Time tour' sometime. Sie haben schon für viele vergnügliche und "durchtanzte" Konzertabende bei uns in Stuttgart gesorgt: Deutschlands beste, wildeste und auch authentischste Neo-60's-Garage-Rock'n'Roll-Band beehrt uns wieder einmal! Die stets tadellos im stilechten Zwirn der 1960er Jahre gekleideten Herren präsentieren in der klassischen Besetzung der damaligen Zeit (und selbstverständlich inklusive der obligatorischen Farfisa-Orgel) 60's-Garage-Punk und Freak-Beat, verfeinert zusätzlich noch mit "A Shot of Rhythm'n'Blues" und Psychedelic-Einflüssen - und mit einem Schlag fühlt man sich so in einen verrauchten Beat-Keller des Jahres 1966 zurückversetzt, denn schließlich gehört das Quartett als eine der wenigen einheimischen Combos zur internationalen "Major League Of Garage-Bands"
CLUB A-GO-GO: Nach dem Konzert startet unsere neue, zweimonatlich stattfindende Partyreihe! Beim "Grand Opening of the coolest Spot in Town" stehen dann die Discjockeys TRAXMAN (Soundflat Records), STEVE und ALEX (beides Bandmitglieder von THE SATELLITERS) sowie Stuttgarts Altmeister REVEREND REICHSSTADT gemeinsam hinter den Plattenspielern - und angesagt sind dementsprechend tanzbare "untamed Sixties-Sounds" von Garage-Rock'n'Roll und Beat bis hin zu Soul und Rhythm'n'Blues, und zwar die ganze liebe lange Nacht lang!
