Spider-man as well as SpiderMan (sans hyphen)
also booze.
Motorhead, The Bee Gees, Ray Ellis, Yma Sumac
fun stuff like that.
Stuff that's so fun, I'm making a show outta it!

Who I'd like to meet: Spider-Mania Cabaret Press Release
For fans of all things Spidey!
Philadelphia is about to be hit with a face-fulla web-covered nostalgia!
Spider-MANIA! a multimedia cabaret filled with an evening of
"toasting Spider-man and roasting Spider-man!"
Whether you're a fan of Marvel comics or the original '67animated series,
or even the Japanese live-action series of the late '70's;
If you used to listen to the crackling vinyl grooves of the 1976 cult classic album
'Rock Reflections of a Super-Hero'
or the elusive Spiderman Rockomic "From Beyond the Grave,"...
look, true believers you get the picture - it's Spider-Mania!
The show's creator/director Beth Kellner has been a Spider-Fan for the last 20+ years
and her goal is to share the fun of what Spider-Man has meant to her.
"I'm just a big nerd with a dream. I was essentially breast-fed on stuff like Star Trek and
Spiderman, and my ultimate goal has been to create a show that I would really want to see.
All the crazy pop-and-subculture Spider 'mania' that has gone before the movies is the
true muse of this production. If everyone involved, from musician to actor,
sound-guy to audience member, Grandmother to Green Goblin, has a nerd-licious time remembering
how much fun it is being young at heart, then I can come that much closer to dying happy."
The show includes original films made exclusively for this show!
The cast is a colorful pastiche of Phillys cabaret vanguard - Jimi Mooney (Helen Back)
David Commander (Piggy Live, Machine World Gospel), Beth Kellner (Sister Spock), Scott Johnston (Count Scotchula), Michael Dura and Carmen Martella III (Skeletor),
to name a few.
And the band is (nearly) a reunion of the Str8 Razors: Ned Sonstein (drums)
Chris Unrath (guitar) Andrew Nelson (bass) fronted by the dazzling drag diva
HelenBack (Jimi Mooney) who also doubles as host for the evening!
This uber-nerd event had its first run at one of the best-kept secrets in South Philly -
St. Maron's Hall (1013 Ellsworth St.)
Friday April 27th
Saturday April 28th
and is intended for 21 and over.
You can catch it again as the headlining act for the Philadelphia Fringe Late Night Cabaret on Friday, September 7, 2007. IT'S A FREE SHOW, and it's 21 and over 'cause like all true cabarets, THERE'S BOOZE!
Come have fun with us!
