Spidermeow's rootsy eclecticism centers on a sweet surreallist authenticity that runs through their poly-genre rock touching on art-rock, minimalist post-punk, instrumental funk, alt-country, reggae and hard-rock along the way. Main songwriter Anthony Pulsipher's Tennesee background tweeks the urban-indie rock disposition, cultivating the odd and untamed and squalling. Pushing envelopes of sound, his guitar playing stings with electric current while floating in a warm psychedelic illumination. Pleasanton boy Ron Guensche's rock solid bass is a buoyant blessing working in glorious tandem with Ivel Rivai's tightly volcanic drumming which evokes the lush heat of his native Indonesia. Too often unbound eclecticism is it's own reward for rock bands on the rise demonstrating little but facility. Spidermeow's genre defying is pure and soulful rock expansiveness, reaching to express the inexpressable, stumbling, falling and keeping right on going.
"a roots-prog re-imagining of post-modern psychedelic soul. . -Brad Angelles Heartworm Records
"Too Much Too Soon & Weird Instrumental are the jams!! You guys are keeping that bay area vibe alive!" -Chris Anderson, Dragonfly
"Deep grooves meet edgy songwriting" -Louis B., The Q
Bay area genre-bashers Spidermeow spin a sticky web of art-damaged yet groove oriented vocals and instrumentals with twisted pop mischief and gleefull rock precision. Deftly swinging from cracking sharp power-pop anthems to slinging some gut-bucket funk instrumentals may seem like it’s spinning a superhuman 180, but Spidermeow’s instrumental deftness and twisted pop soul is the glue that keeps the transitions tight, the mood light and the corners bright. Throw in a morsel of beautiful sadness, some stinging modal blues and a post punk electro groove or two and the musical universe of Spidermeow reaches far in trapping it’s prey. -Sloan Tabor "Infinite Jest"

You guys have chosen great influences and I can taste it in your music. It has a cleaner sound than funk, but a dirtier sound than anything whitebred. Yet, it is a very controlled, collected dirt. You have full control, and having it, feel good to let go a bit. Thanks for the Add. YOU shall come highly recommended from me. And if you are ever in FL, you have a home to crash in.
